Watching the classic series on Netflix

I have seen all 7 of the new seasons, but I just started with classic season 1, but I am finding those to be very hard to watch. I am wondering which serials are needed to watch for continuity, and which ones I can skip. I watched Unearthly Child, and The Daleks, but the following 2 episodes made me skip through until the Dalek invasion in season 2.

I think by the third Doctor I should be able to get through the complete seasons. Its just that there isn't alot of story behind these episodes. Basically, I am interested and willing, but I just can't get through the very early episodes.

So, can someone tell me which are needed vs not needed?

Didn't Netflix stop carrying the Classic Series after a certain point?

And yeah....the stories back in the day were more about the adventure and the situation and not the characters and emotional development that the "modern" series centers on...so can't really say other then for minor tidbits on what has been mentioned in passing really.

They have season 1 and 2, but I've noticed that in later seasons, there are many episodes missing.

I'm hoping Hulu or Roku will have the missing episodes.

To be honest, you don't really need to watch any of them. The current series can be watched by itself. Certainly the "classic" series is a completely different thing to the new series. If you are struggling then I would suggest you stick to episodes with a regeneration, and a few that moves the mythology along a bit.

        So I would suggest

The Tenth Planet (First Doctor regeneration)
The War Games (Second Doctor regeneration, though this one is very long & despite being a big fan of "classic " Who even I found it bit tedious at times)
Spearhead From Space (first appearance of the Third Doctor & first in colour)
Terror of the Autons (first Master story)
The Three Doctors (first multi Doctor story)
Planet of the Spiders (Third Doctor regenerates)
        Robot (first Fourth Doctor story)
Genesis of the Daleks (how the Daleks evolved, Davros)
The Deadly Assassin (Time Lord society. Rassilon, the Master, 13 regeneration limit)
The Keeper of Traken (first of a loose 3 arc story)
Logopolis (2nd of the loose arc, Fourth Doctor Regeneration)
Castrovalva (3rd of loose arc, Fifth Doctor's first story)
Mawdryn Undead ( more about regeneration)
The Five Doctors (multi Doctor story, multi companions, the Master, Rassilon & Gallifrey)
The Caves of Androzani (Fifth Doctor's last story)
The Twin Dilemma (the Sixth Doctor's first story)
The Two Doctors (Second & Sixth Doctors)
Time and the Rani (Sixth Doctor regeneration & Seventh Doctor first story)
        Survival (last of "classic" Who)
The TV Movie (Seventh Doctor regeneration & first and only Eighth Doctor story on TV)

Due to the missing episodes, there are massive chunks (of partially existent stories) that you'll likely never find online, particularly of the Second Doctor.

Does this matter? Well, you wont be missing anything, cos you haven't grown up on the Classic Series... To me, last month's announcement that 2 Second Doctor stories had been found after 40+ years was much more amazing and enjoyable than the last 2 years of the Eleventh Doctor...

That said... here's what I've suggested in the past RE watching Classic Who:
