He probably was.. Since he's not used to voicemail, he was probably treating it as though he were writing a letter.

Not just a quick but a rather formal one. Of course, in his days this would have passed for normal correspondence. I'm a bit puzzled about the term 'arrow missive', though. Where do you figure he got that from?
