    But no character has talked about the curse not being broken at all. Just that the curse is still in effect. Rumpel only tried to circumvent the Storybrooke barrier and not end it.

    No one has thrown blame toward him and at this point no one really wants to leave Storybrooke in terms of the characters we've seen so far.

    I chalk it up to the writers just moving focus away form that and not having developed a real reason for it at the time.

      Same here. Perhaps they were thinking of developing it more, but got overruled.
