SF - Possibly silly question, sorry!

This is probably a completely idiot question, but I've done a search and nothing has come up. I've been rewatching the entire series recently and this just got stuck in my head.

What does SF stand for when referring to the soldiers in the SGC?

I'm assuming it's not Special Forces because frankly they're rubbish.
    Ta in advance.

I have no idea, but the only thing i can think of is USAF (United States Air Force)

Are they wholly USAF? I suppose it's a made up one like Stargate Force.
Maybe we should name them ourselves...

Security Forces - they're the guys responsible for protecting all USAF facilities.
        Behold the majesty that is...GERALD!

What MrProphet said. The term used to be Security Police, but it was changed in the 1990s.
