    "The Net" Television Series

Does anybody remember that show? It only ran for 1 season back in 1999 - 2000 (I think), and was basically a serialization of the movie "The Net" with Sandra Bullock. I remember watching it back then, and after all that happened with the NSA during the past weeks, I started watching it again, and it amazes me, how the show addresses a lot of the problems that we are having today!

The story is basically about a young hacker/computer specialist named Angela Bennett who accidentally receives an email with sensitive information that reveals the criminal activities of an organization called the pretorians, who are basically an "internet mafia". They can control everything on the internet through hacking, etc. and thereby also control almost everything in real life.
They completely delete the identity of Angela Bennett and give her a new identity: Elisabeth (Liz) Marks, who is a wanted fugitive terrorist. They alter her driver's license, birth certificate, and every information that depicted her as Angela Bennett and thereby completely erase her from the systems.
Because she was living kinda nerdy, she didn't have any friends, so nobody except she herself know who she is. Except for "Sorcerer", a hacker who accidentally sent her the email that started it all in the first place. He become sher ally, and throughout the series (which consists of 22 episodes) she has to regain her identiy somehow, and at the same time constantly run away from the praetorians as well as the police and FBI.

She starts to fight the praetorians, and faces a lot of the problems that we actually deal with today. About how you can find out everything about a person on the internet, put files on their computer without a user's knowledge, change their identity (or steal it), etc.
Back when it aired it was pure fiction, and the internet was just not big enough (it was still web 1.0 after all!) for it to be actually able to do that, but nowadays, a lot of it is actually based in reality! It is really scary.

Granted, the computers in the show are very 1990s but it amazes me how the show accurately depicts the potential dangers of the internet.

I know it was not very successful, but did anybody here watch it, and enjoy it as much as I did?

I remember watching it, it seems there very few 90s science fiction programs that escaped my attention/

Sadly don't remember much about the plot lines or anything else about the series.
