    The Defiance Game : SPOILERS

Thought I'd start a thread for the Defiance game.

    So heres the basic plot:

Your an ark hunter that is hired by Von Bach Industries, a weapon and tech manufacture, to accompany Karl Von Bach to the San Francisco Bay Area to help locate two piece of advanced technology - the Ark-cell and the Ark-matrix.

These two pieces work with the Ark-core (which Von Bach already has) to power the terra-spires, the machines which terraformed the planet. Von Bach wants to be able to power up a terra-spire so he can learn how to fix the planet. (Note: the core, cell and matrix are not the only ones in existance, there are several of them, but they may all be gone by now.)

So Von Bach and the ark hunters go aboard the stratocarrier EMS New Freedom with soldiers from the Earth Republic and go on their way. When they arrive the strato is hit with a blast from a Nova-Strike Orbital Defense System (a space based ion weapon) and crashes. Some people managed to jettison including Von Bach.

The ark hunter first searches for Von Bach. Once found you get the help of Lawkeeper Jon Cooper, a member of the Defiant Few like Nolan and discover that the Raiders, a violent group, has got the matrix and sold it to a group known as Dark Matter, a former Votanis Collective army unit that is now rogue. You eventually do find the ark-cell and Von Bach connects it to the core.

When he does this there is a flash of light and his eyes light up (but no one else sees this.) So you eventually make it into San Francisco, but are stopped by Dark Matter and their leader Nim Shondu who takes the core and cell. Von Bach's eyes light up again and he attacks Nim, who is barely phased by the attack and hurls Von Bach off the Golden Gate and into the water below.

So you are now in San Fran and finally come face to face with Nim who is using the core/cell/matrix to power a terra-spire and use it to reterraform the planet and wipe out the humans. You stop him but the core dies. Later the core gives a small spark and Von Bach's body, laying still on a beach, twitches and his eyes open and flash. (The theory is that the core's AI has taken him over.)

On the way you do some missions with Nolan and Irisa finding the Libera Nova Gem, that blue gem from the pilot, hired by Varus Soleptor who places a bounty on Nolan and Irisa for stealing the gem, as you saw in episode 6. Rynn from the show comes to the game where you help her fend off some rogue E-Rep soldiers and then stop an old EMC experiment to control hellbugs.

So I hope this gives some people a little clue as to what happened in the game.

Not sure of exact numbers but there have been over a million registered accounts and around 95% of them are active at least once a week.

Defiance is different, it was planned to have both from the start. Stargate was just a show.

Most people feel that way because it is transmedia and they don't want to do any work to find out some extra stuff. They created so much for this show - 5 languges, musical instruments and backgrounds, cultures, religions, technology, resource production, recipes etc. Its becoming very complex and exceeding so many shows this early into its run. Then again some people like watching shows about celebrities jumping into pools and getting judged, so you can't please everyone.

I dare say it could beat out Stargate in complexity by the end of the first season and i hope it outdoes Star Wars and Star Trek.

I passed on this one too.

In all honesty, I've never watched the show. The previews for the show really didn't catch my interest. Not to mention that I already have a ton of shows that I watch and DVR weekly.

Buy a copy, we've been getting little treats every week in game. Plus you learn so much more by playing along.

Just don't be one of those people who expect a games worth of content every week, simply because they said "crossover events" people assumed a new story every week. Crossover events can be a mention of a name or place.

                    ---------------------------------------------------------------

Thought I'd give a few more details for everyone:

The Votan ambassador to the UN, Onulu Toruku, was killed outside the UN Headquarters and thats what led to war, however events and info in the game hint that it was an inside job by a Votan revolutionary who worked with a US Senator, simply because they did not want unity between them. The guy who took the rap for killing the ambassador was not the real killer, although we never learn who the real killer is.

The war went on for years from 2023 to 2031-2032. One of the final fights was the Battle of Defiance, fought at Fort Defiance, which is where the Palace of Fine Arts is in San Francisco. A bunch of human and Votan squatters were there. The EMC unit Iron Demons, of which Nolan (and Eddie Braddock) were a part of, arrived and told the people they had to leave. As the Ekaru Kome, a specialist Votan unit, arrived a Castithan woman was gunned down running for the Fort. Both sides sent out people who talked on the battlefield before bringing the woman's body (and her baby) inside the fort.

Both sides worked together to protect the civilians there and both were given orders to kill each other. They refused. More forces from both sides arrived and the battle began. A separate part of the Ekaru Kome, Dark Matter, was there as well. Realizing that they could not win, they managed to restart a terra-spire, located underneath the fort and wipe out both armies. The EMC tried to keep word of this defiant act (the refusing to fight, not the terra-spire - no one else really knows how the battle ended) from spreading but it went worldwide and more refused to fight. An Armistice was signed and the Earth Republic was formed. (The Votanis Collective remained as it was).

The Iron Demons were sent to Denver, where Nolan found Irisa. Two of them returned to the Bay Area - Jon Cooper, the Iron Demons commander (who became Lawkeeper) and Torc Mok a Sensoth and heavy weapons specialist in the Ekaru Kome (who became a mechanic).

I'm usually on from about 3pm-11pm Australian time (which is like midnight-8am in the US). Nice and sparse around then, can actually take on an enemy without three people showing up and killing them for you, annoying when your trying to build weapon stats up.

                              NOOOOO!

Played some PvP today, mostly stayed away from it until now, want to get some numbers up for pursuits. I killed 3 people! And died like 20 times.

We get sieges tomorrow and get to take on the Volge!
