Very true! Though at the time, Zach was standing about 20cm away from him. If Naomi's stupid enough to get that close to Dean Winchester, she deserves to be stabbed in the face and killed.

I also remembered last night that Sam did indeed kill an angel, one of Raphael's escorts on Balthazar's estate. Dean sent the other one back to the outfield.

I still don't believe that fear of Dean Winchester is what made Naomi programme Cas to kill him, though. I think there is more going on there. Even when Cas had beaten Dean to a bloody pulp and the tablet was his for the taking, Naomi was still like "KILL HIM!" which was completely unnecessary. Besides, Dean and Sam are doing the trials to close the gates of Hell. Why would Naomi kill Dean? Could it possibly be that... dun dun duuun... she doesn't want the gates of Hell closed?

Or she knows that Dean is Cas' weakness/strength and she wouldn't be able to truly control Cas as long as Dean's around to talk him back to reason.

ETA: I just read this on Tumblr and it seems important. Dean demanded Cas tell him how he got out of purgatory and Naomi said to kill him. That's pretty much what happened when she told Cas to kill Samandriel, Samandriel was just about to spill the beans to Sam and Dean that the angels were being controlled so Naomi made Cas kill him before he could.

I would laugh so hard if Naomi turned out to be Ishtar.

(Referring back to Crowley's comment about Mesopotamia)
