    Pegasus races advancement

just an idea but assuming that when the ancients arrived in pegasus how ever long ago that there were sentient humans that used the gates which there would have been as is refered to by the fact that the database tells about some races then why didn't they advance at all from higher than medieval era know the wraith stopped them but the wraith apparently were not very active during the time in between people from earth getting there the ancients leaving any ideas

We know that the Athosians had advanced tech but had to revert to a nomadic society after the Wraith arrived, other races also may have been advanced but as you said the Wraith stopped them from ever getting back to that stage.

In Ghost In the Machine Dr Weir (season 5) and the other Asurans did mention that some advanced races were hiding because of the Wraith.

We did obviously see the Travelers that lived on hyperdrive capable ships.

There was a Silicon based race that were wiped out by an unmentioned event, they sent out seeding capsules to recreate their race, they were called the Sekkari and were shown in the episode Remnants (season 5).

In The Long Goodbye (season 2) there was a race that had some pretty advanced looking stasis pods floating in space.

In The Ark (season 3) there was a race that had built a thousand stasis pods on a moon to hopefully outlive the Wraith.

The Satedans (Ronan's people) had reached a level similar to Earth prior to the Tauri exploring the gate network and getting alien tech.
If I recall correctly the Satedans appeared to have developed that tech after the Wraith came about.

The Genii were approaching a nuclear science tech level, being close to having working nuclear bombs when the Atlantis team discovered them, they developed tech underground.

In Condemned (season 2) there were the Olesians who had some pretty advanced tech (relative to pre-stargate travel Tauri level), they had an agreement with one Wraith faction that in exchange for letting them develop to a certain point (so that the Wraith wouldn't wipe them out), their payment was sending convicted law breakers to an island.

I think that's about it, but these have all been races that were more advanced than medieval level.

Wouldn't the Hoffans count too? They had hidden libraries so they could more quickly rebuild after cullings.

They've reached at least an early 1900s Earth level of tech. And what about the Manarans?

            All above comments are pertinant.

Humans are in SG-a stummped by larger plotline that they cannot be advanced.
            This is a joke.
Humans could become near invincible in the period of laying low.
Are we stupid. often yes.. but still.
Given say the setedan [or how you spell ronans Home planet] level.. humans could be the asgard before the wraith woke up next. we ARE that good at WAR.

            my 2 cents

Wraith don't all go to sleep during their hibernation cycle. They constantly patrol the galaxy to ensure their domination of the galaxy remains unbroken. Even with most of their forces in hibernation the wraith maintain a fleet that is capable of crushing resistance on any world in the galaxy, even those advanced enough to defend themselves. That's what happened to Sateda, it was annihilated several years ago while the majority of the wraith were still asleep.
"First Weir, then Samantha Carter, and now, you! It's a pity you humans die or get reassigned so easily, or I might have a sense of satisfaction now!"

*You got the touch! You got the poweeeeer!*

It seems that the humans in Atlantis when they are not culled or barely culled usually reach a level of pre-WW2 level of technology.

Makes you wonder it took the humans 10,000 years to realize that they can go underground to avoid being culled while having a 'sacrifices' to avoid any suspicion. Then agin the Wraith could have became complacent recently.

If the majority of human civilisations were advanced but then fell back to a non-technical level as a result of the Wraith then shouldn't there be a load of old tech lying around that these races build a long time ago but forgot how to use? The same way we keep finding Ancient tech.
