Don't think so. Maybe he doesn't like his first name and tells everyone to call him Monroe. Besides ... I'm just wondering about "Monroe" as a name. It isn't a Dutch or German name, it IS English. On the other hand we know that his family is still pretty bounded to Europe, that he still has relatives in the Netherlands (the cousin), maybe some more. His family seems to be pretty big.

If you mean the cousin who told him about the Grimm decapitation then it's Belgium, not Netherlands (sorry pet peeve!).
I also think it's just that he doesn't like his first name. And I don't know here it's pretty normal to just call your mate with their surname.

Whoops, sorry, I should have known better!
But, yes, you are right. Over here it's the same - sometimes. So I don't think it's too weird that's probably Monroe himself who don't want to be called by his first-name (who want's to get called "Eddie"?)
