Uncertain Sheppard has information that he shouldn't know yet?

During this episode, Shepard, while talking to Todd says the following: "Why would I do that? Right now, you're one of the few people in the galaxy with a ship capable of dealing with this problem." However, what confuses me, is that at this point Shepard was not aware that the Artero(SP?) Device was destroying Wealth Hive Ships when they activated their hiperdrive. So, when Shepard infers that there are only a few ships in the galaxy that still work, isn't he actually saying something that he shouldn't know yet? I know Todd never gets specific during their conversation about what he is upset about. I am honestly just trying to see if I missed something or if this is simply an extremely small and unimportant plot hole or flaw?

They didn't know it was destroying the ships, all they knew was that they couldn't go into hyperspace. They didn't know it blew up stargates either.

It's been a while since I last saw Lost Tribe, but if you're referring to the part of the episode that I'm thinking of Shepard was on Atlantis, Atlantis has advanced sensors that can detect Wraith vessels in hyperspace and it would be highly noticeable if a ship just suddenly disappeared randomly.

Atlantis's long range sensors should be able to detect a galaxy wide energy signature being emitted through subspace/hyperspace and the fact that a ship blows up in hyperspace or trying to enter hyperspace when the energy or interference wasn't there before should make it kind of obvious that something's going on.

Something that I just thought about was Atlantis's stargate blew up before Todd arrived, I think it happened prior to the 304 being stolen by Todd and his team, so there may be another thing to consider too, since the gate was active and energy started to build up within the gate and stargates use hyperspace to create wormholes, which I'd guess would have to be the means through which the energy would be fed to the stargate from Aterro and cause the gate to turn into a bomb.
I doubt this info couldn't have got to sheppard in some way or another, probably from a team of qualified personnel within the city.

    Hope this helps.

I think Sheppard was still on Atlantis and didn't go with the 304 (I forget which one was away from the city).

Yea, he was still on Atlantis. That makes sense though, although they didn't mention it, it would have likely been noticeable on the sensors. Thank you guys! I love Stargate and honestly hate blupers, just like I hate SG-1s 200th episode, so I appreciate you guys giving me some plausible explanations!

I agree that this information is not in-keeping with the time-line of that episode and First Contact. It was most likely a mistake on behalf of the writers, or perhaps something left over from a deleted scene which they forgot to remove. Sheppard could not have known that another side-effect of the Attero device was to cause Wraith ships to explode upon entering hyperspace; Todd did not mention it.

Yes, it could have been surmised from the long-range sensor-data of Atlantis, but that would require a member of staff to be observing the long range sensors for some time, in order to determine that all hive ships were either stationary or exploding. This would have been strange even on a normal day, but during the early events of The Lost Tribe, Atlantis main CIC has just violently exploded, and basic city functions are being rerouted by Banks et al to an interim command facility on another area of the city. Station personnel are running around trying to get the city operating normally, trying to work out what has happened to the gate, or having pieces of glass removed from their backs in the infirmary. I doubt anybody has been sitting around watching the long-range sensors for hive activity.

I know this is a rather late reply to the thread but wanted to throw in a bit of logical reasoning. For another blooper, check out Dr Keller's hair. When Ronon leads her out of the medical bay after Todd takes over the ship, it's curly. When she surrenders herself to the Wraith, she's obviously been making use of the GHDs because it's pencil-straight. Then when Ronon frees her from the Wraith who are escorting her to the holding area, it's back to wavy again. Methinks somebody forgot to check the minutiae between scenes.
