    A fifth season what if...

I just had a little what if scenario about the show's final season that might have helped the ending be a little more climactic. Drop "Vegas" or move it earlier and drop some other episode you dislike. For Episode 19, revisit the Asuran storyline. To those who watched SG-1's final season, remember how Adria and Ba'al had a smackdown in the penultimate episode just before the series finale? Well, what if Atlantis could have had such an episode? Imagine Sheppard leading a team via Puddle Jumper through the stargate to retrieve the Asuran copy of Elizabeth Weir, but only her. The others are left to continue drifting in space. Weir shifts back to Torri Higginson (assuming she could be sold on the script), but she decides to remain Asuran since it's just her. We finally learn the fate of Elizabeth Weir once and for all. Her original self was killed for screwing around with Asuran code, but her nanites are allowed to replicate into an Asuran copy of Elizabeth Weir. The rebellion cloned Elizabeth Weir along with Sheppard's team, but they were all killed in "This Mortal Coil." Knowing she is merely a copy of her self, she elects to remain true to herself as an Asuran copy, a mechanism that appears to be an organism. She's willing to unleash the full might and fury of Atlantis upon the Wraith once and for all. This leads into "Enemy at the Gate" where Todd contacts Atlantis about his underling taking his ZPM-powered super-hive on a direct coarse for Earth. When Earth's ships fail to stop it with the Odyssey out of contact (along with SG-1, minus Carter), Atlantis must take flight toward Earth and save the day one last time. The end of the episode would more or less play out the same, but I'd have the Wraith hive ultimately destroyed by Elizabeth Weir, sacrificing herself to save the Earth below. Sheppard and the expedition have a quiet moment as they realize the essence or perhaps soul of their lost friend had survived through her Asuran copy.

    Like, dislike?

Interesting, but how would Wier be able to "Unleash the full might" of atlantis, when Dr becket couldn't?

Here's my "What if" for season 5:
Cater leaves because... Stargate Continuum and AT's Sanctuary.

Episodes 2-6: The events lead to the team deciding it's time to put an end to the Wraith once and for all. Woolsey comes to Atlantis, but only to check how the Pegasus mission is still going. He sticks around until everyone's safe and back in the city. He leaves and Sheppard takes control of the expedition. The Athosians (Teyla's people) are brought back to Atlantis and are offered to be a part of the mission. The Asuran storyline is revisited due to Athosians demanding to see Elizabeth Wier. So McKay, Ronnon, Teyla, Zelenka and Shappard (he puts one of the Athosians temporarily in charge while on mission) go to the Asuran planet, only to find out that the Asurans have been disabled because of Elizabeth messing with their code.

Episodes 7-12: One of the remaining Asurans reveals to the team that she was sentenced to death by their leader and that he was going to kill her, but right before the final torture, he began experiencing pain (nanite malfunctions), which soon expanded to their whole planet. Eventually, some of them managed to fix themselves and avoid death, but then, the Wraith attacked them before they could regroup their armies to repel the attacks from Wraith ships and cruisers. So they shut Elizabrth's nanites down, transferred her mind to a faulty replicator body so they could use her human body, but that ended up causing more damage to it, so they had to put her into a stasis pod, without her mind. After some investigation, McKay calculates where did Elizabeth's mind go to - it went to another, unpopulated and incomplete Asuran city on another Asuran planet. Meanwhile, back in Atlantis, the Athosians are successfully working with the Atlantis expedition , they've captured a group of Wraith soldiers for questioning.

Episodes 13-17 - McKay and Zelenka use the Puddle Junper to go and retrieve Wier's mind and this happens the same way as in "Ghosts in the Machine". They dial the unpopulated Asuaran planet, but they end up in Atlantis somehow (due to Elizabeth's mind being in control). Teyla and Ronnon leave for Atlantis after reaching a deal with the Asurans for their common problem (the Wraith) and take what remained of Elizabeth's body with them, along with the pod. Back at Atlantis, McKay does come up with a temporary solution to bring their friend back, but he warns everyone that she may be stuck as a Replicator for life. The Athosians protest, saying that they don't need another threat in the Pegasus after barely getting rid of the Wraith soldiers they've once captured. However, Sheppard comes back from the Asuran planet after successfully sealing the deal with their new allies and assures everyone they'll be fine. Along with Zelenka and a revived Carson, McKay uses replicator nanites to fix Elizabeth's body and put her mind back into it.

Episode 18: Wier wakes up without any memories what had happened since they raided the Asuran planet for the ZPM. However, before she can be told the truth, the Wraith launch a warning attack on Atlantis. This leads into Todd's storyline from the final episode. However, he reveals that the Asurans and the Wraith are now allies and that they've been deceived, which Elizabeth is able to confirm. After talking with Sheppard, Todd porposes that he, Elizabeth and Sheppard himself should raid the attacking Wraith hive ship, which they agree to. However, on the hive ship, Todd betrays the two and feeds on them, while the hive ship is on its way to Earth.

Episodes 19 & 20: The rest of the storyline in "Enemy at the Gate" is the same, however, instead of Ronnon, Elizabeth and Sheppard are revived for questioning by a Wraith, but are saved by Mckay, Telya and Ronnon. They nuke the hive ship's gate room (just in case), head trough the gate and end up in Atlantis, which is about to land on Earth. At the infirmary, Ronnon's battle wounds are treated (he injured Todd in a final face-off) and Elizabeth is revealed to be fully human once again, as is Sheppard (he returned from the Asuran planet as half-replicator). Todd is presumed destroyed and the Athosians decide to stay on Earth. Our team members all regroup on the balcony and observe the beauty of San Francisco from a cloaked Atlantis. The end.

          Or... if not the end:
In season 6, we still get the good season 5 episodes (like the one where Keller is taken over by a Wraith Queen).

              05x02 - The Seed

BTW, this might be off-topic, but in my opinion, I think the following episodes were pretty good, but would make a great addition to a 6th season:
05x02 - The Seed (of course)
05x04 - The Daedalus Variations (would make it into a two-part episode)
05x06 - The Shrine (would make it into a two-part episode)
              05x08 - The Queen
05x13 - Inquisition (would make it into a three-part episode)
              05x14 - The Prodigal
              05x16 - Brain Storm
              05x17 - Infection
              05x18 - Identity

Well, it was a pretty good episode. But I'm going to say one more thing: they shouldn't have done the Hoffan drug storyline until season 4 or maybe season 5 - or not at all. Also, they could have handled Michael's story better. Or the Genii story - which was good, but still - there's a lot of stuff SGA could've done better if the writers would actually resort to write original stories instead of just recycling SG-1's storylines.
