Hi. I've got an old NCIS/JAG supernatural crossover fic that I'm planning on revamping into an SGA/SG1 supernatural crossover fic. There are too few of that genre on ff.net in my opinion.

I have roughly 14000 words already written.

I need help revamping it. Please contact me via PM or visitor message.

Hi, I am working on a rather big project at the moment (41000 word up to now, and the story is not even halfway finished), and I am in desperate need of a beta.

The main concern is grammar and spell-checking, since I myself am not a native speaker of English. I do however thoroughly revise my own work, and have been told by people who didn't know I wasn't English, that they didn't even notice it from my work, so there will hopefully not be too much work.
Style-reviews would also be nice: if you come across word repetitions or general uneasy phrasings that make you feel like the flow of the text is somewhat interrupted, just mark it.

Last but not least, characterization - but that is only a minor concern at this point, since I'm writing an AU story (summary will follow) that takes place outside our main SG timeline, and therefore I kinda develop the characters a bit different, seeing that they have different experiences.

      Story Title: Stargate Aschen

In an alternate timeline, the Aschen, who have been on Earth since the middle ages, and drastically advanced human progress and industrialization, while heavily controlling the population and Earth's gene pool, are controlling the Stargate and Earth's government, while using the remaining humans merely as a means to an end: to work the fields and grow the crops.
When 25-year-old Sam(antha) Carter finds out, that she is one of the 'gifted' ones, one of the few humans who are still fertile, she knows her life is about to be turned upside down. Strict rules apply to the gifted ones, in order to assure that the human population will not completely die out. In order to spare his daughter that fate, her father Jacob Carter arranges a marriage contract with another 'gifted' one, his old friend Jack O'Neill.

Feeling that the options that she is provided with are not enough for her, Sam runs away at night, her mind set on finding the 'resistance', a group of humans that are rumoured to oppose and sabotage the Aschen rule over Earth. She manages to join the resistance and finds out, that, deep in the forests of Antartica, there is a second Stargate that symbolizes humanity's last chance. The resistance camp's commander is Jack O'Neill, but never having met before, the two of them are not even aware that they are husband and wife. Adventures, romance and drama unfolds in their long fight against the Aschen government.

Rating will be Mature/Explicit (though tasteful)/NC-17/R, so if you don't like these kind of stories, please don't consider beta-ing.

Classification is mainly 50% romance, 50% adventure. I originally intended it to be mainly a romance, but I really wanted Sam and Jack to develop the respect and trust that they have on the SG-1 television show, so it is kind of becoming a 50/50 story.

WARNING: This will be a long-term beta task. I cannot send it all at once, since it is still a WIP. I will only start publishing once it's complete, but I'd like to start revising the first chapters already and getting them beta-ed otherwise it's going to be too much work later on.

If you're interested, please send me a PM! Thanks in advance!!

Hi Kimberly! Welcome to our thread, and to Gateworld! I wish I could take you on right now, but I am busy with three others at the moment, as well as a life spinning into insanity with busy-ness. I wish you good luck, though--sounds fabulous.

Hello everyone. I have yet another story idea that having a beta to bounce ideas off of would be a very good idea. Also for grammar issues.

My story is an AU where Charlie had a twin sister who was unharmed in the incident that cost Charlie his life. At least in the physical sense.

The story will basically be how Cora adapts and overcomes every that had happened, and her reactions to various important events over the course of the first 8 seasons. It will also showcase her interactions with her father.

Jack and Sara still get divorced after he comes back from Abydos the first time. Eventually there will be S/J. Sara will play a part in the story as well.

Has two possible titles: End of the Line or One Last Wish.

          Any takers?

            Hello, newbie here.

I'm almost done with the first draft proofreading of my story, and I'm wondering if someone here would like to beta-read it.

Ok, so a little about the story:

Stargate Atlantis themed. Wraith centric. I would describe the mood of the story as being dark-ish at times, but that's balanced out by the good characters who overcome the challenges.

            Word count, 51K.

Some people in the past have complained about the way I portray wraith characters. If the idea of a wraith character that isn't despicable bothers you, then you may want to stay away.

The title is "A New History."

My motivation in writing the story is to add depth to the wraith arc. Something the show didn't do to the extent I would have liked.

Hi everyone. I really need someone to bounce ideas around with. I'm currently published under the pen iamdragonrider on ff.net primarily, though reposts on sites like Helio and also the Stargate Littleverse. I've written a variety of things, mostly Sam focused, gen team action adventure fic. I suck at ship, tried it, didn't work. Am posting here because I am hoping to find someone that finds the idea of Sam kidfic neat/interesting, since that is technically what I'm working on, and it would be even more awesome if you've enjoyed the prequel.

So what I'm working on, is yes, technically kidfic. And I say technically because the first "kidfic" i wrote, titled Growing Pains, was the "traditional" sort, where part of SG-1 is accidentally turned into children, Jack has to watch out for them while they try to reverse the effects.

In the second story of a kidfic theme, which I feel can be read alone, titled It's All Elementary, Sam volunteers for a mission to go undercover at a school to catch a Gao'uld, and is voluntarily turned into a kid. She then has to put up with all the consequences of the mission, including being seen as a kid by the non SGC, and of course, still manages to kick ass. To my knowledge, there is only one other aware (fully aware, meaning Sam's mind is an adult, her body is not) kidfic featuring Sam, and that is Janissima's It's Great to be Eight, but hers is fluffy and very PG.. and mine is not. (it is even rated T for violence, since there is a lot of action especially near the end)

What I'm now working on is "In the Interests of the Child" which takes place right after Elementary, and Sam has not yet been returned to an adult, and CPS gets a disturbing report. So of course there is a lot of plausibility stuff to work out to make things happen the way I want, which is to have Sam end up in the custody of CPS.

Thing is, I have a really excellent beta, who in the past, I could have long endless email conversations with, and she is wonderful for correcting my overuse of commas and sometimes confusing descriptions. And she does a great job finding overlooked spelling errors and suggesting wording and such. But recently, life has been real busy for her, she's been busy with work and writing a real life book, so sometimes days or weeks pass without an answer, and then its only a quick reply.

I miss the conversations, hashing out details, etc. Its what I need right now the most I think, so I'm looking for someone that might be interested in what I'm writing, and able to give feedback, and that won't mind if the updates are a bit spotty (I disappeared/was abducted by aliens for about three years during Elementary) Assist with grammar is always great, but what I most want/need is help with plot/story ideas, and keeping the characters in character, since I like to take them out of their usual box and push their limits. Keeping them in character even in unusual situations is something that is important to me.

I"m told my characters are always in character, to the point that folks often say they can "hear" them in their heads. its one of the best things I like to hear. As for characters I do best by, Sam I hear most clearly (though I"ve had a daniel fan in the past as a beta) and tend to do her POV the most. I love Jack's sense of humor. I like the throw in a little TEal'c, and not just have him say "indeed" Daniel funnily enough I tend to struggle with his philosophical outlook the most. I'm hoping to bring him out a bit more in this story, considering his experiences in foster care.

Well i've seen a lot of people say they were willing to beta "anything" but I've learned people tend to have strong opinions about certain types of fic, kidfic being one, and I can't say I blame them since a lot of what I've sen in that range is pretty terrible. But if you've seen my stuff, or want to give it a try, I promise you that Elementary and Interests ain't your usual kidfic. So I'm hoping to find a Sam centric gen/team action adventure fan willing to give my stuff a go and be someone to bounce ideas off of. let me know

                So...

I've been writing a rather long and involved serial story, and while I have a damned good beta reader who knows the details of this story intimately, he's been overwhelmed with a lot of other things. Enough so that half the time when I want to ask for his input on a chapter that's in progress I wind up feeling either like we're really not connecting or like I'm probably asking for more than he has the time or energy to deal with. To be fair, he truly does have a lot on his plate.

I offered some time ago to enlist another beta to share the load, and he said it wasn't necessary. At this point, however, I think it is. If nothing else, a fresh set of eyes on my material would provide me with additional insight that might help me navigate some of the more complicated elements beginning to crop up in the story, and which will become increasingly important in several upcoming chapters.

So, anyone want to help me out? I have no plans to jettison my current beta, who's been doing yeoman's work on this... but I want to take the pressure off him of being my only beta and also give myself a second person's perspective.

The bonus for whoever decides to come on board will be that you'll get to know what's going to be coming up in the story, and not just a chapter or two ahead but the entirety of the plot and several future chapters, as I have this all outlined and the ending has already been written (along with portions of not one but two sequels).

Let me know if you want to help!

A serial. You know... a serial? "Tune in next week.... "

Did you ever read Charles Dickens? His long novels were originally published as serials... a chapter a week, generally, in magazines of his time.

Basically, all multi-chapter fanfic that's published a chapter at a time falls into the category of serial. This is true of original fiction published this way as well, of course.

I'm using the term "serial" rather than "story" for my current WIP specifically to account for the fact that it's way longer than most novels.
