    Superbowl Overseas?

OK, so many of you know the Superbowl is next sunday.
The superbowl is easily the biggest sporting event in America and is also the biggest Television event BY FAR.

So how popular is it overseas, is it a big thing at all?
So often times it happens that we live our lives in chains,
And we never even know we have the key.

Not at all in Australia. They might mention who won during the sports report on the news but thats it.

Why would we care about a game we don't play nor know who any of the teams are?

What is the superbowl then? Is it Baseball? I think we did hear about it last year cos Boston won and they hadn't won it in a hundred years (??) but most years go past without anyone in the UK noticing any superbowl.

I think it's a big bowl. Maybe they feed a lot of people from it or something? You know - Super Bowl. Kind of like World series baseball. Hardly world series when the only place playing is America

It has a very very small following, but is largely unheard of.

All US sports apart from Basketball and NHL are not very popular outside of their domestic audience.

nat: Doesn't Fox Sports show the Superbowl on Foxtel? No one really cares about it, though. Our news only show stuff like the mid-show entertainment. Only our news networks showed the 'incident' multiple times without blurring it.

              Baseball? I thought it's Football, isn't it?
              Or something else?
And... are all games on sunday? Or is it only one game?

No idea I'm afraid. Don't have foxtel.

It is football. But half the people just watch it for the uber-cool commercials that cost about a million dollars per 30 seconds.

You probably heard about last years, when Janet Jackson had her infamous "wardrobe malfunction."

I've kinda gotten into American football. Our football (soccer) is really boring I think, but that's just me! American football seems to be more exciting <shrugs>

Even as an American, I don't usually pay too much attention to football. That is, except when.......THE EAGLES GO TO THE SUPERBOWL! Woo hoo!

There is some interest in the NFL over here(I think Channel 4 had coverage of it for years before they covered the NBA) and I think one of the Sky Sports channels is screening the Superbowl. I know that they certainly plug NFL coverage at the end of their NBA shows(I think the same guy hosts coverage for both sports).
