I feel like the episode is really passed beyond the foundational point (which was needed and well done) of the series and into the meat of discovering what is actually going on, which was really well done also. Those "Soulless" people are actually kind of creepy when they stare at you with that blank mask.sigpic

Yeah... Good, I like Rex a whole lot, the doctor chick is really great, even the blonde-out-of-her-depth chick is kinda good, Oswald is as creepy as you could want (and then some)... but Gwen was a bit *too* much, too clinical, and I have to say, I honestly don't like what they're doing with Jack. He's always been so utterly rational, and I can understand that since he's mortal his attitude would change, but that shouldn't make him dumb enough to get beaten up by goons. Yes, he's seizing the day, but he just seems somehow out of character to me.
Really still not sure how I feel about it.sigpic

Jack doesn't inspire confidence like he should. There should always be a sense that he has a grasp of the bigger picture that eludes all the others; an ace up the sleeve. A plan that is slowly becoming apparent while everyone else runs around getting in trouble.sigpic

I am dying to see what is causing all this, because the fact that Jack is now mortal is kind of bugging me. Jack's immortality was brought about by the power of a Tardis, so whatever has taken that away must be packing some serious mojo !
Maybe him being mortal now will cause him to start ageing when his immortality comes back, sending him on his way to becoming the Face of Boe maybe ?sigpic
What a show !

Jack already ages. Just very very slowly. This was noted in a Doctor Who episode.
At the end of Last of the Time Lords:
JACK:And what about me? Can you fix that? Will I ever be able to die?
DOCTOR:Nothing I can do. You're an impossible thing, Jack.
JACK:Been called that before. Sir. Ma'am. But I keep wondering…what about aging? ‘Cause I can't die but I keep getting older. The odd little grey hair, you know? What happens if I live for a million years?
DOCTOR:I really don't know.
JACK:Okay, vanity. Sorry. Yeah, can't help it. Used to be a poster boy when I was a kid back on the Boeshane Pennisula. Tiny little place. I was the first one ever to be signed up for the Time Agency. They were so proud of me. They Face of Boe they called me. Hmm, I'll see you.IMO always implied.

1. Phicorp clearly have some serious connections.
2. I do get Jack in this one, after all, he's probably the only member of the team who's been anywhere near where Oswald's been.
3. Rex is...starting to get interesting.
4. You have to wonder though...what extra terrestrial force would have anything to gain from something like this. They wouldn't be able to use Earth's resources or anything.
