I don't recall when anyone said anything about what would trigger the pods to wake the crew up when they reach the next galaxy. Was it ever mentioned? Or do they just assume that it will happen?

there is a similar scene in ALIENS and also in EVENT HORIZON
both scenes show crew coming out of their stasis pods - very cool too
on a serious note

I would assume that the pods were programmed to take people of status once Destiny entered the next galaxy & reached the next rechargeable star (with hopefully a viable planet or two in range!). When watching the making of Gauntlet season special on the DVD's extras I noted Jamila Walker stating that not everyone might wake up from status once they did if they had gotten a Season 3 - it would be interesting to see if one of the 3 pods they fixed at the end of Gauntlet malfunctioned & whom out of the crew they lost.
