Well I just got home from working all night and I have a shiny new GoT episode on my Tivo. How many episode are we supposed to get for season 1?.

10 so we're at the halfway point. HBO shows only have 9 to 13 episode long seasons, partly because they tend to be very expensive. Still there's more awesome packed in these 10 episodes than most shows have in their entire run, and we know that there's another 10-12 eps for season 2 (no one's nailed down a figure yet)that are in preproduction as we speak.

Khal Drogo is primarily an extra used to develop Daenerys' character. Theres not much Jason Momoa can do in the role unfortunately.

I could not agree more brother Mighty!. I thought after the first 2 episodes that the show was trying to do to much by having to many story-lines playing out at the sametime (kind of like what they did the SI & SII of BSG) - but now after reaching the half-way point of season I, it works brilliantly. I love the way each story-line is textured, and I especially like how they don't play the cliff-hanger card with any story-line angle. They give us just enough to keep it interesting and moving along.

A 10 episode season is great news!. Hopefully we 13+ for the next few seasons

Well apparently the producers of Game of Thrones disagree with you, because they submitted Jason Momoa for consideration in the emmy's. Khal Drogo is not as important as the Starks or Daenerys, but he's still fairly important. We're only halfway through the season, his part in the tale has more yet to come.

Jason has a huge presence though. Yes the character of Drogo is very minor but look at what he has done and how he shapes Dany in so many good ways. Without a good solid strong actor to play Drogo it would be unbalanced between him and Dany. I honestly can not think of anyone who could have pulled it off as well as he has. Even with Drogo being a minor character I think he is equal to Dany.

I hope he wins an Emmy for his work as Drogo he deserves it so many times over already.

So true! Dany was the way she was because of Viserys' influence. Look at how strong she's become since being with Drogo. Jason has played the role amazingly - he's thoroughly convincing and actually very nuanced. Look at his face during the

- he's so emotionally invested in what he's watching and that is conveyed by the slightest changes in his expression. Great stuff!

Yes exactly! He never said a word during that scene and yet we could tell he was goading her on letting her see that he knew she could do it and the pride when she was successful. I have said it before and this shows it just as well that He is an amazing talent for being able to act well without ever saying a word.

This show has helped me a lot with reading the books now. I don't need to dwell in my imagination on how someone should look given the author's descriptions. Once I read about Drogo, all I could see is Jason, and it works perfectly for me.

So they did give him some semi-tangible lines. Sadly, he's just not very good when he has speak alot. Not much difference from Ronan I guess. I still love the character, and Momoa err Dex is da man!

I did not dig the gratutitous sex scene that wasted 10 minutes of valuable air-time at all. How lame, I guess they have to appease that part of the audience, I just don't get it, it doesn't fit and it comes across as bad porno.

I haven't watched this week's episode yet, I hope it's better.

I have no idea which episode you're on, complaining about a sex scene doesn't really narrow it down, every episode has had sex or nudity in. Sufficed to say most people have been impressed with Jason's performance in episodes 6, 7 and 8, especially his speech in episode 7.

As for "appeasing that part of the audience," what, the book readers? George RR Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" is an extremely sexually graphic and violent series of books. This is an extremely faithful adaptation. Some of the sex scenes from the book have been taken out, a couple of scenes added in, as in all adaption's stuff gets rejigged. Overall though this is a very faithful adaptation, in plot, character and overall tone. And the tone of the books and the series is very very violent, and very sexual.

You know in some ways I'm glad there hasn't been a flashback to Robert's Rebellion. I think even HBO might have baulked at having Gregor Clegane smash a baby's head open on a wall then raping the mother while still covered in blood, as described in the books.

This is the darkest of source material done by HBO, not by a normal network. This is not Stargate. If you really hate the huge amounts of sex and violence, all I'd say is stop watching, because it will not let up. Main characters will die by the dozen, often very violently and without warning, and characters will regularly screw each other, both literally and figuratively.

The lesbian scene, right? Right. First off, barely five minutes at best. Also, maybe if you stopped, I dunno, turning your nose up at the whole thing (Which is cool. Go nuts, though I'd wonder why you watch this show in the first place, but whatevs), and listened to Littlefinger was saying during it, you'd realise this is the way they chose to foreshadow Littlefinger's betrayal at the end of the episode. His monologue is about his relationship with Ned. Subtext and all. From what I understand, a lot about his ambiguity gets cut out because the books go into background info a lot more. So this horrible horrible scene that you seem so happy to decry about without giving it thought also details backstory a lot more, fleshes out Littlefinger, and yes, has a bit of gratuitous sex. In a series rife with it, book or not. Appeasing the viewership. Please.

All we really got out of it was Littlefinger rubbing his hands together and telling the audience, "mwahaha I'm going to betray Ned". Which was always on the cards anyway given his constant attempts to ingratiate himself with Ned & Sansa.

As for "Ronan the King" - it was a good role and he did a masterful job with it.

I'm still not clear on why they made Khal Drogo's initial sexual encounter(s) with Dany quite so rapey Perhaps it makes it easier for the audience to swallow his death so soon after losing our primary hero in Ned?

From that one scene you get his background and history with the Starks and Tully's, his motivations for his various betrayals, his methods, a look at how sordid his character really is and a pretty powerful metaphor as to what he's doing to the various Houses.

I think I'll have to watch it again then! I must admit I turned the volume down rather low in that scene and maybe missed some of the intricacies of his monologue. I watching the episode late at night and didn't want my neighbour to think I was watching porn with that protacted sex scene and constant pleasure moans (thin walls!)

As I said there is a lot of info on him in that scene. Also, a funny thing is, that while there is a hell of a lot of flesh on display in that scene, the more explicit actions, (ie the stuff that would push it into porn territory) are hidden by conveniently placed bowls of fruit and the like.
