    Game of Thrones - Games

A GAME OF THRONES – GENESIS, this video game is an adaptation of the successful A Song of Ice and Fire saga by George R.R. Martin and is set to be released this summer for PC.

Thanks to a well-developed single player campaign written under supervision of the author George R.R. Martin, “A Game of Thrones - Genesis” immerses you into the heart of the battles and intrigues between the Houses that shaped the Kingdom of Westeros. Live the origins of the A Song of Ice and Fire saga through more than 1000 years of History, and take part in Westeros’ founding events and largest battles such as Aegon the Conqueror’s invasion on the continent or the War of the Usurper.

In this great strategy game, victory does not necessarily result from brute force. You can choose to use a military approach and besiege your opponents, strangle them in an economical war, or even use dirty tricks and diplomacy to politically crush them. Treachery and deception are everywhere, so watch your back and prepare for battle!

Go here to read some more about the game and look at some screenshots

      How about the non-digital games?

      There's also the card game:
      http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/ed...te.asp?eidm=10
      And boardgame:
      http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/ed...20Board%20Game

Both from Fantasy Flight Games (there's another game, but I haven't played it personally: http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/ed...e.asp?eidm=105)

The Living-card game (used to be called a collectible card game, or CCG...I spent a bit on the stuff: I have a Greyjoy deck, a disassembled Stark deck, and cards for decks for each of the other major houses, I think) and the boardgame were both quite fun (if a bit 'cutthroat'...the boardgame, in particular. I think, after a few turns, people weren't smiling anymore ).

There's also a pen-and-paper dual system (D20 and another system, I think) RPG for the Game of Thrones/Westeros setting. I think one my friends has a copy, but I don't think he's run a campaign for it.

      Edit:
Oh, and there's also this mod for Medieval 2: Total War:

        I found this:
        http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/ed...215850&efpag=0
It uses OCTGN2 to play the card game online.
I haven't gotten around to play yet, but it looks solid so far.

There's also this mod for Crusader Kings: Deus Vult:
(I want to try it, but I don't have CK: DV, yet)
        http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/...f-the-Usurper&
        It looks quite pretty.
*grumbles* I should've gotten CK Complete when it was on sale... */grumbles*
Crusader Kings Complete is via digital download from gamersgate.com:

Finally dug up some info on the RPG, sounds pretty interesting. From the article...

Players will start out as a brother of the Night Watch up at the Wall, then move on to play as Alester Sarwyck, a Red Priest returning to the kingdom after being exiled for 15 years across the Narrow Sea.
          Check out more info here.

Ooh. Looks interesting. Hehehe, The Witcher meets Westeros? Hmm.
I hope it's not too linear. Choices/options would be nice. (something like, pick a side among the various Houses kinda of choices...and choices that are clearly reflected and have impact)
That and I like the gist of one of the comments (about most RPGs being combat fests): hopefully the game isn't all about combat/action, and will have a fair share of what, IMHO, makes the ASoIaF setting great (politics, intrigue, agendas, great characters).

The RTS, on the other hand...doesn't look so good so far. Still, it's an 'official' title, so I hope it does the setting justice.

That does sound pretty interesting. So this RPG would be an extention of the books.
              Was always fascinated by R'hllor

                    Yikes.
I dunno. It doesn't look so good (the trailer).
I really wish a more 'established' dev handled this. Creative Assembly, methinks, would've been great. Or Paradox Interactive (or someone who can do PI's Grand Strategy elements, w/ CA's tactical battles ).

Does anybody know if they are planning to bring out another edition of the GoT board game? My son is desperate to have one, but they're sold out everywhere, and the prices on ebay are just crazy ($80+ plus $40 shipping to Europe!).

The RTS came out a little while ago, allthough I heard it was pretty medicore.
