      Sorry about that. Ok, when we say nanite, we assume nanorobotics, tiny robots in the body.

      I am developing a non-cellular creature (for any biologists who can maybe help me in this, it is in many ways a giant single celled organism but it doesn't have any cell membranes. It instead has different compounds/components that link together or even made a pseudo cell membrane. So water balloon vs sponge) So I've mapped out their biology while not having cells it still has all the pieces of normal cells.

      Can I call these cell components nanites? Not synthetic robots but naturally occurring biological machines. The reason I ask this is because a term I keep coming across is 'macromolecular machine' which in turn keeps leading me to nanites.
