Of course the really annoying thing is after the recent burst of news from Brad Wright, we may never get clear answers to either where on Earth the gate is, or even which Gate, since to the best of our knowledge Atlantis is still sitting outside The San Francisco basin, rendering the Alpha gate useless!

I like to believe atlantis became the new SGC, and that's why there is much more reference to Homeworld Command in SGU, Homeworld Security "absorbed" the US military part of the SGC (explaining while walter is working there) while the rest was relocated on Atlantis.
Also, Atlantis is irrelevant to Pegasus, Atlantis only ever hid and tried to keep its location secret, it was simply used as a "home base". An alpha site location could do the exact same thing, and the Wraith would keep looking for Atlantis on an ocean for a long time.Comment
