I see again that liberals don't want to put their money where their mouths are...

LA's Battle for Venice Beach: Homeless Surge Puts Hollywood's Progressive Ideals to the Test

"There are actually [residents] advocating driving the homeless out of Venice — shipping them off somewhere, which is such a proto-fascist move," says television writer Evan Dunsky, a 27-year resident of the area. "And then what? Do we have to build a wall around Venice?"

You mean 1 percenters having a tantrum?

      I cried.
      Spoiler:
I don’t want to be human. I want to see gamma rays, I want to hear X-rays, and I want to smell dark matter. Do you see the absurdity of what I am? I can’t even express these things properly, because I have to—I have to conceptualize complex ideas in this stupid, limiting spoken language, but I know I want to reach out with something other than these prehensile paws, and feel the solar wind of a supernova flowing over me. I’m a machine, and I can know much more.

The clowns in the article, like the guy that passes by and says ''oh they forgot to take out the trash'' or something alike.

The picture is gold though, if I had to use one picture to depict the US it would be this one.

You can make all the snide comments you want, but the article does illustrate the hypocrisy of liberals. That region is infamous for it's deep blue / far left stances, but when it comes to their own, their walk doesn't match their talk.

Just like Nancy Pelosi, who opposes the wall, but has her own walled castle.

Public personality, political elite, it is justified. Change the tune, your record is broken, you've said that too many times already.

Open Welfare system, closed borders are also justified.

idk why I bother, but here's some economic facts for you. One source is from a pro-immigration reform, the other from actual economists that have analyzed the data.

FAIR analysis (Federation for American Immigration Reform)

                    Spoiler:
                    Of the $1.8 billion in resettlement costs, $867 billion was spent on welfare alone;

                    source

NBER analysis (National Bureau of Economic Research)

                    Spoiler:
By the time refugees who entered the U.S. as adults have been here for 20 years, they will have paid, on average, $21,000 more in taxes to all levels of government than they received in benefits over that time span, according to a working paper released Monday by the National Bureau of Economic Research that examined the economic and social outcomes of refugees in the U.S.

                    source

Are you saying that the National Bureau of Economic Research, which is a non-profit organization analyzing economics data, which is in itself a bi-partisan notion, got it wrong when whoever wrote that BS article on the FAIR website can't even do basic maths? 867 billion of the 1.8 billion was spent on welfare... that makes sense to you?

                      is obviously a mistake.

But statistical nonsense aside, where is it written that US taxpayers must support everyone who shows up at the door? Sadly,we have a pretty much open welfare system. We can't also have open borders.

If you feed everyone in your house, such as your family, do you also leave the front door open with a "Free Food" sign over it?

If my household had the capacity to shelter 325 million people, I probably would yes because I'd have more money than I could ever spend in my lifetime. We done with dumb examples?

It truly puzzles me how the evangelicals (certain groups) can claim Trump is chosen by God, when he has so many sins to his portfolio. pride (make america great again), greed (broken trade policies), lust (pornstars), envy (Erdogan, Vlad, etc.), gluttony (Fast-food every day), wrath (twitter rampages, personally insulting US citizens) and sloth (doesn't show up to soldiers memorial due to a rainy day).

I fully support Trump on the shutdown issue. In truth, either side can end the standoff. Pelosi can come out of her own walled castle and provide the funding for the needed wall just as well.

Trump would be an idiot to stand down, he has no other leverage over the Democrats and the Republicans who oppose the wall at this point. I hope he does stand firm until the Democrats give up.

The house and the senate have both passed bills to fund the government, it's trump who won't sign.
You got the house, the senate and the presidency for 2 years, and now you cry because you had to make deals and not rule like an autocrat.
                              Sad.

Trump has said he will not sign anything that doesn't contain the funding for the wall. If the Dems want, they can put together a bill that includes it, bring it to the Senate, which will go along with it, and then submit it to the White House.

                                Stalemate over.

Trump would be foolish to back down at this time. I hope he sticks to his guns.

Oh, and just to make this more fun, I just read that another caravan is starting to come north.
