Talking 3rd Rock From The Sun (1996)

I recently purchased all 6 seasons of this excellent show. I believe there aren't many threads/posts about this show. It falls under semi-sci-fi, I suppose.

This show is freaking hilarious, Dick Solomon rocks

anyone else loves this show? I wish it had more seasons.

William Shatner was the best part of the series

Its a lot more then a cameo. I would call it an important part of the story.

I'm doing a 3rd Rock From The Sun marathon this sunday, and I'm laughing out loud all the time.
    Great great comedy!

    Some quotes (from Wikiquotes):
    [Reminiscing about the 60's]
Mary: Did you ever drop acid?
    Dick: [misunderstanding] Oh, constantly.
Mary: You did a lot of tripping?
Dick: That's how I dropped the acid.

Dick: Sally, I want you to observe her, find out what women on this planet do.
Sally: Why can't Harry do it?
    Dick: Because you're the woman.
Sally: That brings up a very good question: why am I the woman?
    Dick: Because you lost.

Nina: I knew you had a thing for her.
Dick: Yes, but I understand I'm not allowed to show it to her without her permission

    He he
I disliked him in both roles, but for me he is more annoying in 3RFTS

Anyway, I want to share my latest ROFL moment (at around 0:40, when Dick says "apoca-lopa-lipse")

I kinda think disliking him was the point of both roles

One of the best comedies ever. That it was SciFi was just icing on the cake!

Agreed, I watched the entire series back when it was on Netflix, during a very stressful and depressing period of time for me, and it always made me laugh.

I loved this show! Very funny and, as Everlovin said above, being scifi made it even better.

I still think John Lithgow would've been amazing as Doctor Who. But only if he'd played the part like Dick Solomon.

You can just picture it - post-regeneration, the Doctor catches sight of himself in a mirror, "My God! I'm gorgeous!"

Long before you and I were born, others beat these benches with their empty cups,
To the night and its stars, to the here and now with who we are.

Another sunrise with my sad captains, with who I choose to lose my mind,
And if it's all we only pass this way but once, what a perfect waste of time.

I don't know if you guys were aware, but actress Jan Hooks (Vicki Dubcek) passed away last month.

Glad I found this thread. Nothing like revisiting one of those shows that you watched in the 90s, though I've to admit that the jokes got old for me after a while.

It was great though, to see Joseph Gordon Levitt come into his own years after this show and John Lithgow still going strong (just saw him in Interstellar).

I loved this show too, the alien observations of humans and how they tried to adapt to life on Earth was hilarious. When I think back now there were so many great Sci Fi shows to watch in the 1990's.

Seeing this thread makes me want to dig out the DVD's and watch it again.

John Lithgow was great in it, it was weird to watch him as a villain in Dexter as I always thought of him as Dick Solomon!

This just made me look up the memorable quotes of 3rd rock...
I thought S1 was the best, when the jokes were still fresh.

    ----

Dr. Dick Solomon: I'm your new High Commander. From this point forward you will refer to me as such.
    Harry Solomon: Okay, Such.

    ----

Dr. Dick Solomon: [seeing a couple kissing] Look, life forms. And they're cleaning each other.
