I miss Red Dwarf really badly. Whatever happened to the Red Dwarf Movie that they were planning?

I don't know, but IMDB is no longer listing it. Perhaps plans fell through?

ok just did some checking on the internet and things don't look so good. pre-production was getting a start in 2001, hopes for 2003, very close to production in 2004 for a 2005 release, but obviously that hasn't happened. My guess is everything fell through.
Filming was meant to be in Australia

I think they were still planning to make it, but all of the cast are or were busy with other projects

Chris Barrie - was in Tomb Raider 1 and 2...don't know what he's doing now
Craig Charles - Is now on Coronation Street
Danny John Jules - Is now doing kids programmes on CBeebies
Norman Lovett - Is still doing his stand-up routine
Chloe Anette - I think she had a baby a couple of years ago, and hasn't done much acting since then

Part 2 coming very soon!! (this is a fic btw, not the Fandemonium novel)

    ditto

I started playing the episode Kryten the other day and when the spoof of the Neighbours theme came up, my mother stopped dead in her tracks. And started laughing. And I say this of the person who said that Red Dwarf wasn't funny

    Unfortunately not.

I saw a picture of Chloe Annett at a convention recently... she's not as pretty as she used to be, unfortunately. I wrote to her when I was eleven.

    Mr. Flibble's very cross.

Quarrantine... Best. Episode. Ever. (In my humble opinion anyway.)

I also like "Tikka to Ride" and it's nod to JFK conspiracy theories.

    just a little quotation time

Lister: And for this very special occasion, I have baked a cake.
    Holly: What's that, then?
Lister: It's shaped like a spanner, Holly, because he was a technician.
Holly: That's very apt, that is. If he'd have been a postman, you would have baked it in the shape of an envelope, I suppose?
    Lister: Yeah.
Holly: Gordon Bennet. It's lucky he's not a gynecologist.

    ROFL
Holly has practically all the best quotes e.g

Holly: I am Holly the ships computer with an IQ of 6000 the same as 6000 PE teachers

    and

LISTER: Holly, what's the problem? You're supposed to have an IQ of
    6000, aren't you?
HOLLY: Look, we're travelling faster than the speed of light. That
means, by the time we see something, we've already passed through it.
Even with an IQ of 6000, it's still brown trousers time.

ANd this is Holly on his fantastic return to form in season 7

    KRYTEN

Well, from one machine to another: welcome back online, Holly!

    HOLLY

What's happenned to him..? That's quite horrific, isn't it? What was it,

a cheap razor? It's just not worth buying them from garages, is it.

    KRYTEN

Don't you remember me? I'm Kryten.

    HOLLY

Kryten? I'm sorry, mate, it's the way the light was shining on your...

what's the word? Face, I suppose. Just didn't recognise you for a minute.

Never forget a face, usually, never.

    KRYTEN
It's good to see you again.

    HOLLY
    And you are..?

    Brilliant !!!

    Best line ever?

    Lister: "What's an iguana?"

Long before you and I were born, others beat these benches with their empty cups,
To the night and its stars, to the here and now with who we are.

Another sunrise with my sad captains, with who I choose to lose my mind,
And if it's all we only pass this way but once, what a perfect waste of time.

I notice there's a lack of Rimmer's salute in later seasons. Why is that? It's not Red Dwarf without the salute

Well I think they make up for it in Season VIII but I think its mainly due to the way the character progresses and after season V there was no real need to use it since the Dwarfers had more important things to do such as finding red dwarf.

i've watched red dwarf on and off since i was little, but one of my fave epsidoes is the backward episode. as you all seem to know the show so well would you be able to tell be what season it is and the name of the episode. coz i hav'nt seen it in such a long time. i especially love cats face at the end when he went to the loo. it was so funny. do any of you Brits know whether it will be on UKGold or UKDrama any time soon?

"We can't possibly do that, who'd clean up the mess"

I love that quote, from my fave episode of my fave season of my fave comedy of all time.

BTW, the reason the film hasn't been made is that they can't get funding. The BBC won't fund it. They have also tried other places and have been swindled and let down.
