Well, for one thing, Wash is dead, so I don't see what he would be doing there. Unless the series (or mini-series?) talked about what happened between OIS and Serenity. -
Whedon apparently had a plan set for bringing everyone back if a sequel to Serenity went ahead. As for what the picture means, I wouldn't put too much into it. It just seems like a few of the guys got together.
