Rachel Caine, author, and fan of Michael Shanks
Bear with me. I tried to search the forum to see if anyone has posted this but didn't find anything.
My teenage daugther was introduced a few months ago to a book series written by Rachel Caine called "The Morganville Vampires series". It's written for "young adults". I read the series, and noticed that the author had an adult series called "Weather Warden". When reading the second book in the series, "Heat Stroke", I noticed that in the book's dedication ( http://books.google.com/books?id=SuC...page&q&f=false ), it reads: "Michael Shanks" among others, with the additional note in the dedication, "not that she personally knows all of them". Then, I started thinking that the main male character in the book series seemed to share a lot of physical characteristics of Michael Shanks.
So, I googled "Rachel Caine Michael Shanks" and found a few interviews with the author, mentioning Michael Shanks.

Then, with more google searching, I learned that Rachel Caine wrote a "Stargate SG-1" book as Julie Fortune: Sacrifice Moon (Stargate SG-1) (September 2004 (UK)/July 2006 (US), Fandemonium, ISBN 0-9547343-1-9).

Has anyone else read her books? Does anyone know if Michael Shanks knows he is beloved by a popular author?

David's genesis isn't so straightforward. In fact, he just sort of popped up on me while I was writing the book -- I'd planned (again) for Lewis to be the love interest, but suddenly David was right there in the mix. I confess to a weakness for actors James Spader and Michael Shanks. You may notice a certain family resemblance in the appearance of the character ...
Who or what was your inspiration for the characters of Joanne and David, if any?
Joanne started out as a homage to a friend of mine, who was terminally ill; he was so brave and courageous in the face of overwhelming odds, and had such a constantly surprising sense of humor, that I couldn’t not write some of that into the character. His illness became her Demon Mark, but the personality traits certainly came across. David — okay, confession time, I admit that I have a soft spot for the actor James Spader, especially circa his STARGATE movie days. So there’s some of that in there. And some of Michael Shanks from STARGATE SG-1, too.
