I was recently reading "The Touch of Twilight: The Third Sign of the Zodiac" by Vicki Pettersson and was surprised and thrilled to find a reference to Serenity and Mal.
The main character was flipping through what she thought was an original script for "Serenity" and thought to herself about how much she missed Malcolm Reynolds. It was a nice little moment.
