I have no idea how ppl link that action to torture, it's clear all Young did was to "kill" Telford in order to reset his mind. What i wanted to point out is, Rush's body should undergo decompression sickness.
It doesn't matter for what reason Young did this or not. The method -let somebody die through asphyxiation- is used as torture technique, it's not a nice way to die.
