I mean, they were also very spiritual and high developed people but God how they knew how to fight when they were provoked. Sharlin class is and will be probably the awesomest ship ever for me in sci-fi...
If one hears about the Ancients, they were either defeated, forced to flee, wiped out by a plague etc. In Stargate, especially in Atlantis, they seem like people who could even be defeated by Ewoks (ok, Ewoks defeated the Empire in SW but...still). Never ever Ancients looked cool in the military way, except when humans operated their technologies. Granted, we didn't see much of Ancients battling anyone but still... Asgard had some fun moments with Goua'uld in the early seasons and their ship was at least not destroyed by the "ships shall be build to carry our warriors out amongst the stars'' Ori space toilets...
Ancients just had white uniforms... and that too sort of made them look like people who would wave the white flag anytime someone with hyperspace capability appeared (read: Wraith)... Now Minbari also had white uniforms but only person who managed to destroy one of their Sharlins was the same guy who later died nuking million year old race, came back from the dead and forced a few several million years old races to get the hell out of his galaxy... and later became the president of it.... and later grew the moustache and beard that made him look like some thug or bum.
