Communication stones and personal issues (could be spolierish)

Ok, I know the stones come up a lot, both here and on the show, but some of the things about them have made me ask questions; some funny, some kinda serious.

So, In Sabotage, you saw that an Air Force officer was there to help Camile get used to her host's body. I wonder if this was normal, or just because of her host's condition? When you first body swap with some SGC/Homeworld Security personel, does someone tell you the in's and out's of the body? (Dr. McKay has a very serious citrus allergy, so please don't drink orange juice)
And if they do, do they cover other things as well, like personal, cultural or religious issues, like a recovering alcoholic not wanting you to take their body out drinking, or a person who was Jewish or Muslim not wanting you to go out for bacon and eggs? My brother had another thought, that I'm not sure how to express here, dealing with sexual preferences: Would some big hunky marine be ok with swapping bodys with a gay man, knowing he's going home to his S.O.?

That leads me to another question: I know they have to push the show along, but sometimes it's like people get to used to the swap way to fast. I usually point out Camile's s.o. for this: she loves her girlfriend, but she's come home as two different women now: are you being faithful when you're being romantic to you lover in a new body? Also, do they screen the 'host' bodies, make sure that they don't have family or friends in the area they will opperate in? (Like if Eli took his new body out and in the process cause trouble for the Serviceman's marraige?)

    Thoughts?

I wonder how all these partners - Young's wife, Camille's companion etc - get the clearance to meet and have sex with them? And why are they so obviously OK with it? Why aren't they afraid or scared or confused? It looks more like in SGA when they thought they were back on Earth, but really it was all happening in their mind while they stayed on another planet. All this Earth thing is somehow weird or wrong.
And one more thing. Is there always somebody sitting in SGC, waiting someone from Destiny to use the stones? How is it, that it always happens to be right sex, I mean, when a woman from Destiny uses the stones there is always a woman in SGC for her and other way round when some man uses the stones. How can that be?

all I can say is, watch Kino 23. People sign waivers for the swap, knowing what it entails. Sex is assumed as part of the deal from the kinosode. If you had objections, you don't have to swap

as for swapping to a guy, or a guy swapping to a girl, that would be neat for the experience alone, don't you think?

That officer, don't recall his name but he's a major, has been heavily involved with escorting people around for the entire season. They need to have someone near enough to the people back on Earth in the event that these folks are needed back on Destiny or that some kind of danger arrives so that they can disconnect the stones.
I'm not an actor. I just play one on TV.

It's not a coincidence. Unfortunately don't remember it exactly, but there's an explanation.

because the writers have done it this way, we were told that they are not going to do a sex switch

It might not be possible with the stones to do a sex switch, who knows

Then again there was an interspecies switch so..
I dunno what to put in here now..

From an STD point of view - just how many condoms are on board Destiny? I realise they haven't specifically gone down the path of an Earth based person screwing someone while on board Destiny, but they almost did with the whole braniac quadroplegic woman in Camille Wray's body. Which made me think - OK, Camille goes and gets it on with her partner in other people's bodies back on Earth (as does Young), but at least she can be safe out of respect to the person's body she's using. How would you feel coming back to Destiny, knowing your body's just had unprotected sex with someone on board?

Personally, I love the whole stones thing. I reckon there's a whole TV show just about morals and ethics of this process alone. Imagine the possibilities - the quadroplegic woman is just the tip of the iceberg. Different sex (as mentioned above), blindness, deafness, radically different age and of course, different species - including a symbiote-type species such as the Tokra - who would be sent across the link?

Maybe they have designated girl stones and boy stones which indicate a request for connection so the people on Earth know which stone to touch. I would also guess that when there is need to send two men, one man goes first to make sure the other guy won't get the girl stone and vice versa. I'd be interested in seeing a mess up, though with a guy temporarily ending up in a woman by mistake. I guess it doesn't go with all the doom and gloom of the show.

There is no safeguard in the stones themselves since pregnant Vala did swap with Daniel in SG1.

Probably none by now. STD is only a problem if the other person actually has it. There are only a fixed number of people on board and they all quite well educated or military health screened so it's highly likely no one on board has any kind of STD to transmit in the first place.

Thats wishful thinking. If they follow the concept of a more reality based show, then theres a good chance a few characters have STDs as we speak.

Im all for the stone for the exchange of info, updates. But anything else, especially intimate pleasures, im really not for it. Im also not buying the argument of spending one last day with your lover.

I cant believe that the SGC let that happen. They spent a decade fighting a specie that took over their host and made them do despicable things against their will. And now i have to believe that the SGC are pimping meatsacks so they can get laid via collect call? Really?

Thats why i dont like the stones in SGU.

Part of me wants to know whether some of those get 'volutold' to sign it. Like with most of the other military braches.. We all have things we "require" you to sign and if not, congrats you are getting an article (what ever it is when you disobey a lawful order)... So are they really signing it with free will or are they orderd to sign it...

Well, I'm glad I'm the only one with Stone Questions.
I'm sure in the magical world of SG-U, they are all very willing to sign over the use of their bodies, and do it willingly, and aren't ordered to by some Major.
How did Young's wife, Camile's gf and the others get clearance to know about something that members of our own Gov't don't? I mean, one for fight with the Colonel and his wife might run straight to the media!
And as stated above, I find it odd that no one really has issues with their SO now being someone else.

Another thought came to me today: the SG-1 episode "Origin", where we first meet the Ori, and see the stones in action, made me curious about Youngs body swap with the 'blue alien/smurf': why was it only able to squawk like a chicken in his body? When Daniel and Vala were in the bodies of those two Ori-Galaxy people, they spoke to everyone, read books and signs, etc.
Were the Ori teaching their people American English the whole time? (kinda odd, since that copy of the book of Origin looks older than the Constitution) If they were speaking Ancient/Lantiean, I doubt that Vala was that fluent in it (maybe, maybe not). So, did it translate their words into "Oriese?"
If so, why didn't it tranlslate "Smurf tongue" into English, if only for a few words and phrases?

Smurf language was probably not in the translation database.

Ahh okay was going to bring it up but someone addressed it with the whole pregnant Vala and Daniel switch. Like if the baby's consciousness is also transferred or not. I mean babies do have some awareness while inside right? They should just be discarded because the whole stranded thing isn't really working out with them and they only use them when they need an expert or "recreation" but not for training or learning.
