The main weapon of Destiny!

Forgive the overly dramatic title. Couldn't resist.

I was really hoping that the main weapon would be an energy beam, a bit like the Ancient defense satellite or the Asgard plasma beams. Dangerous to fire with the ship's damage, yes, but dealing a massive amount of damage to the target and accordingly depleting the diminished energy reserves of the ship massively. I was a bit disappointed that we got more 'pew pew pew' weapons fire, but just with bigger 'pews'.

What did you think of Destiny's main gun?

not really a big deal i don't recall any big difference from the main weapon and the other weapons scattered around destiny

I know. And that's what I'm miffed about. For me, 'main weapon' = 'cool beam of death!'
It may make more sense for it to just be a bigger version of the others, but I was underwhelmed.

only 40% isn't much plus it belong lower due to the sheild impact. but you also need to remember that the ship is a million years old. ancient tech wasn't as cool at drones yet

Definitely not, but I'm tired of 'pew pew pew'. That's point defense. A main weapon goes 'zeeeeeeeeeee'!

But if you go back and watch when the main weapons where activated, of the four large cannons (three on top, one large cannon on the bottom), it appeared as if only one cannon fired. Nothing really came from the larger lower cannon, and it did not seem as if the other two fired either. I for one would like to see all four cannons fire on an enemy vessel.
