Ben Browder will star in Naught for Hire, and will be Executive Producer! Unlike some of the fake future news posts here, this is the real deal. We're very excited to have a star with his enthusiasm and fan-following in the role of Nick Naught.

Lawyer takes back seat to no one

Vancouver-based actor once lived in his car -- but not this time

By Dana Gee, The Province May 5, 2010

    Living in Your Car

When and where: Friday night at 8:30 on HBO Canada

Colin Cunningham knows all too well what the main character of the new TV series Living in Your Car is going through.

"I never asked anyone on the show if they did, but I actually lived in my car," says the Vancouver-based Cunningham, about six lean weeks in the early 1990s.

"It was a 1984 Honda Civic. I remember I had to take all the stuff out of my back seat if I wanted to recline the seat. So, I had to put all my stuff on the hood of the car. Basically, I slept with one eye open watching all my stuff..."

    <<**>><<**>>

    At IMDB:

Series filmed in Hamilton & Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Only available (so far) on HBO Canada.

Colin is a guest star in episode #7.

Unfortunately, HBO Canada blocks access to their site if you're not in Canada.

Even Steve's lawyer -- an equally abominable unindicted co-conspirator named Neil Stiles (Colin Cunningham) -- is reluctant to help. All he's able to secure from the loathsome litigator is the keys to a luxury sedan which Steve has signed over to him in order to avoid having it seized by the taxman; and it's a good thing he regains possession because, as the show's title suggests, Steve is going to be spending a lot of time reclining on that fine Corinthian leather.

    MICHAEL SHANKS

    http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/news/20162

Oscar-nominated writer/director Julien Magnat's feature length debut Faces in the Crowd began principal photography in and around Winnipeg, Canada this past weekend. Joining the previously announced Milla Jovovich (Resident Evil, The Fourth Kind) and Julian McMahon ("Nip/Tuck", Fantastic Four) are Michael Shanks ("Stargate", "24"), David Atrakchi (Transporter 3), Sarah Wayne Callies ("Prison Break") and Marianne Faithful. The concept behind this thriller is pretty cool as Jovovich stars as a woman who has a severe case of face-blindess -- and there's "someone" after her. You can find the full plot details below.

"Magnat's script chronicles the account of elementary school teacher Anna Marchant (Milla Jovovich) who is attacked by a serial killer known only as Tearjerk Jack and survives, but is left to struggle with a neurological disorder commonly referred to as face-blindness (prosopagnosia).

Only able to recognize voices she fights to adapt to her diagnosis and the ever-changing faces of those around her. Working with Detective Kerrest (Julian McMahon) Anna race's to identify her attacker. All the while the killer is closing in determined to eliminate this potential witness. Only Anna has seen his face – and he could be anyone. "

The film is a Saskatchewan-Manitoba interprovincial Canada-France co-production with key technical and creative personnel from both provinces. Principal photography will take place in Manitoba and post-production including all computer generated visual effects will be completed in Saskatchewan.

Joining Jovovich and McMahon in the cast are Michael Shanks (STARGATE, 24), David Atrakchi (TRANSPORTER 3), Sarah Wayne Callies (PRISON BREAK, LULLABY FOR PI) and Marianne Faithful (PARIS, JE T'AIME, MARIE ANTOINETTE).

Executive producer Nicolas Chartier of Voltage Pictures will handle international sales. Their first in-house production, THE HURT LOCKER, received six Academy Award's in 2010.

Principal photography will wrap June 13, 2010.

WebSite Carmen Argenziano to Host LA LUPA FEST IN LOS ANGELES MAY 15 & 16All In the Famiglia: Carmen Argenziano - Jacob Carter to Stargate SG-1 fans – will take on a slightly more Earth-bound mission this weekend. This Saturday and Sunday evening will find him handling emcee duties for the first-ever La Lupa Italian Cultural Arts Festival at the Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum in Topanga, Calif. In addition to playing Sam Carter’s father on Stargate SG-1, Carmen, a lifetime member of the Actor's Studio, has acted in over 50 films and 100+ TV series and episodes, portraying a spectrum of characters from detectives to colonels, priests to senators, as well as some bad-boy gangsters and mafia types. But one real-life role he’ll never outgrow: proud Italian American. For those who’d like to feel the amore this weekend, go to www.lalupafest.com

Jason Richman hired to jury-rig ‘MacGyver’ script (exclusive)
    May 20, 2010 - 8:00 pm
    By Borys Kit

Just as “MacGruber” hits theaters, the TV show that inspired the parody is making strides in its journey to the big screen.

New Line, which is developing the “MacGyver” movie, has tapped Jason Richman to pen the script.
    ....

As New Line put “MacGyver” into development in March, Relativity quickly put together its parody, getting a cast in front of cameras last summer and fall.

If hiring Richman is any indication, New Line plans to make “MacGyver” straight-faced but still keep it fun. The WME-repped writer did uncredited work on “Black Hawk Down” and “Rush Hour 3,” wrote the Chris Rock-Anthony Hopkins action comedy “Bad Company” and worked on a draft of “Beverly Hills Cop 4.”

Raffaella De Laurentiis is producing “MacGyver” through her Raffaella Prods. along with Martha De Laurentiis and series creator Lee Zlotoff. Dino De Laurentiis is executive producing.

Ben Browder has decided NOT to do Hellcats. Apparently it conflicts with a couple of movies that he'd like to do, so he decided not to do the series. Here's what his manager said:

After long discussions with the Producers, Ben has decided not to do the series as he has a couple of films that he would like to do and if he went ahead with the series, he would not be able to do them. It was a difficult decision as you can understand.
