Browncoats in space: Shuttle crew awakened to Firefly theme

    http://scifiwire.com/2010/02/brownco...pace-shutt.php

    Can't stop the signal!

According to the NASA Twitter feed:
@NASA Shuttle crew awoke @4:14pET to theme song from "Firefly." The Ballad of Serenity, performed by Sonny Rhodes, was played for Bob Behnken.

Take that, Star Wars! Browncoats, can I get a shiny what what?

Definitely Shiny! I ran across this news on Whedonesque.com and it made my day. It makes me happy to think that some of our intrepid astronauts are also Browncoats. Here's the audio of the wake up call. Breaking Atmo has pictures of the Firefly and Serenity DVDs on the space station.

NASA's Flight Day 6 video also covers it.

I just wish that NASA had gone with 'Serenity' instead of 'Tranquility' for this last node they installed on the Space Station. 'Serenity' was the winner of their naming poll, if you discount the 'Colbert' write-in silliness. You can't win 'em all, though.

They had their reasons for going with 'Tranquility', seeing as the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 11 lunar landing was last year.
