This may be going on behind the scenes for all I know, but I wonder why some of the most skilled people on the ship are not busy training the others? At least half, if not more, of the people on that ship don't seem to do anything. Of course we can't follow eighty characters, but I'd like to see some classes going on (other than working out. Great idea, but there should be more.)
TJ should have three or four students. If she dies, the crew is screwed. No one else has medical experience. The basics of medic training shouldn't take too long, assuming you found people with the right aptitude. Similarly, Franklin should have people in his botony lab, Becker should have a couple people helping him work on improving the food, Eli should be showing others how to use the kino properly, and Rush....well. Rush could teach others about the Ancients language. But he's busy, and of course there's his personality to deal with. However, of all the people on the ship, he may be the only one who has actual experience as an instructor. Though they haven't said this yet, I wouldn't be surprised to find out that he was one before. But, again, it doesn't matter because he has his students; the other scientists.
Of course, it doesn't matter right now anyway. As far as we know, he's still busy staring up at the sky on an alien planet in utter despair.

I think most of the people aboard (TJ, Chloe, and many people we haven't met yet) should be learning skills FROM Earth, I don't think TJ should be teaching at this point. That's the biggest problem with the stones, it's too easy to bring people through the stones to solve problems on the ship, if they do that the shows not interesting, but also...when the people aboard use them for impractical reasons...it's just maddening. They should either get rid of the stones somehow, or limit the crew's ability to use them.

I begin to think the Icarus assignment was like a Siberia assignment for the US army. Its like a place they send troublemakers and other lost causes.
Colonel Stevens:"Since Rush lost his wife, he has become completely crazy, sir"
General Thompson:"Ok, we'll send him to head the Icarus project. That should occupy him."
Colonel Stevens:"I thought that project was dead in the water"
General Thompson:"Its dead but we use it to make video games"
Colonel Stevens:"Oh, I see"
Currently watching: Dark Matter, 12 Monkeys, Doctor Who, Under the Dome, The Mentalist, The Messengers, The Last Ship, Elementary, Dominion, The Whispers, Extant, Olympus, Da Vinci's Demons, Vikings

what they need is for the 3 of them to realize that NONE of them can effectively lead alone. if rush cooperates with young who cooperates with wray and you get rush leading the scientists, wray the civilians, young the military, but none of them is totally in charge.
the thing is, what will it take the 3 of them to realize that they can only really get home if they all work together?

Young meanwhile would have done far better if he didn’t have the interfering forces of Wray and Rush, unfortunately his problems in dealing with them hindered his command ability. The problem now is that while he has removed Rush as a problem his method in doing so will simply cause resentment against him and will further reinforce the view that he isn’t suitable to get the people on the Destiny home yet any action he takes to quell mutinous behaviour will simply make things worse, Young has jammed himself in a corner.

They could even have a class on learning to handle Rush 101

The Earth people could teach classes on various survival topics for those on the Destiny and Eli and others could bone up on their Ancient.

Instead of him spying on everyone (which is needed I do understand) he could spend some time learning things to make his life easier. So much pressure on someone so untrained.
