It's funny. I thought about the time when I've started to watch Stargate and I guess it was about 15 or 16. Long time ago. Now I turn to 30 this year.
And why did I start watching Stargate?
I've seen a couple of pictures of Sam and Jack and thought "Oh boy, good looking couple and damn, is he hot"

So, embarrassing, but that's because I fell in love with SG-1.
And I still am. Very much. I didn't read FF every day and it's a few weeks ago that I did watch an episode, but Sam and Jack are always with me and in my heart.

Does anyone else feel like this?
I mean, I got a really exciting real life, got my horse, go with him to shows and work with him a lot. Work, grad school.... but sometimes, well, not really, more than sometimes, I say to myself ...glad you "know" Jack and Sam and that you have something on DVD for cozy evenings on the sofa.

They're sort of family, you know.
Is that odd?

Hi folks! It's been literally ages since I've posted on here (over 6 years), but I suddenly felt nostalgic with the news from San Diego and such, so I thought I'd visit here. Still remembered my password and everything!). Of course I went directly to my favourite thread, and then I read your post, Katha.

Just wanted to say: same! I started watching the show as a young teen in the early 2000s on TV, and I did so because I had a thing for MacGyver, so .. you can put two and two together . Anyhow, I fell in love with the story, with Sam, Jack and Daniel specifically and everyone else. I had always had an interest in space and archeology (particularly ancient Egypt!), do this had everything and it was the first real "adult" sci-fi universe I got into. I immediately started shipping Sam/Jack, bought magazines that had interviews with cast and crew, where I also read about fanfiction for the first time and of course the first ff I read was S/J (downloaded and saved to a diskette drive at the library because we didn't have the internet). My first DVDs were Stargate (those that only had 4 eps each and were still like 20 bucks a piece lol) and I watched those few I had over and over (learned a lot of English that way).

I've since joined and exited fandoms at a rate of about 2 a year, had an endless number of actor crushes and have shipped tons of ships. I haven't watched an episode in years, but I still know all the important things, particularly those S/J relevant. S/J and Stargate will always have a special place in my heart, and I regularly check out some fan fiction when I feel like it. It's the only ship I really enjoy reading about.

So no, you're definitely not alone!

Ok, so totally the wrong time of year, but I came up with an idea for a Ship Day fic. 10 months? Should be enough time for me to manage to get it written

So, after 10 years, Photobucket is going to have to go. I'm pretty disappointed that they've changed their policies so that if you want to display content on external sites, you have to pay for a premium account. It saddens me as well, since, of course, this means that a ton - probably most - of the picspaming done around here over the years is all gone.

Considering Ship Day is only a few days away, I'd like to find a new site to house my photos and gifs (and post on external sites) for free ... does anyone know of any good options?

I had someone suggest Paint.net to me for other photo stuff...I will have to check it out for S/J, too.

Totally agree! I go to work, live life, watch TV (I have a few fandoms I like), but I always come back to Stargate (whether it's rewatching or reading fanfic, or just daydreaming).

Belated Happy Ship Day!

This fandom is so important to me because it's me my first ever scifi fandom and Sam/Jack got me to start writing due to their UST moments that even at 10, I wanted to add to rewrite because it was annoying me! They are so perfect for each other and it drove me- and still DOES- insane! Most of my writing started from here and this fandom, this group has become one of my only two original fandom families. Sam proved as a lady, I could and should go for it and is a fantastically strong role model for me. Stargate SG1 has given me so much so far, I've learnt about science, technology and history, etc, it's shown I would want 'Jack' hugs and I've got them from my husband, has shown what family and friendship, loyalty, etc should be in my life, what a relationship of love and respect should be and has inspired me to follow my own example of it, shaping most- if not all- of my childhood/teenage years- though PERN has a part of that too and at 30, I'm still here!

THANK YOU! I couldn't have asked for more, now I just need a BHK!

RL has also been kicking my butt. I'm in my first semester of grad school now and just trying to keep my head above water.

But I'm still making time to relax and watch an episode of SG-1 every once in awhile. I recently watched Entity, in all its angsty goodness, and remembered this behind-the-scenes photo I had in my collection.
