This is not really intended to Bash anyone, not even Rush. Eli is the only person Rush considers an equal. I doubt his ego would let him recognize as his superior. Yes, we see Scotts heroic efforts running around in the desert planet but you have to admit Eli's unsung contributions to the Team.

Yep, when Young sent Volker in to help Rush, the latter said (rather indignantly) "if he wanted to help me, he would've sent Eli!"

Seems like Rush considers Eli the next best scientist on the ship. Sure, Eli's young and has some maturing to do but he's still a smart guy. Rush's outbust in Water seemed to me like more of a wake-up call that Eli needs to realize they can't always be as nice as they'd like. A life lesson maybe, rather than Rush just being pissed at him.

Eli did move to comfort Chloe when she came out to the control room after Vanessa's visit. So although saving the ship is obviously a higher priority, we can see that he wants to help her too when its convenient
