They tried to oppose the Wraith and protect human species but failed like their creators did. They tried again and again and again without ever being able to eradicate them.
Then the Wraith created the virus that transformed them into dummies : always re-living the same days over and over again, not evolving a bit since the end of the war.
The threat disappear and the Wraith prospered for 10 000 years...until McKay came to them.
