I'm sorry if this has been touched I have followed gateworld for awhile since the begining but never really posted anything.
My question is why hasn't anyone opened the ancient crates, that should be a first thing you do.
You never know what in it for all we know it could be OMFG nanites that repair the ship or weapons or any other thing you could think of that you would need for a voyage like this.

I'm guessing they contain components for the ship. The Ancients new that it would be thousands of years before they would board the Destiny, and by that time they would have new technology. The Destiny likely sustained damage during that time and they might have to fix it fast. Integrating their new technology with Destinies older tech, would likely take more time.
