    Firefly Limericks

The Stargate Limericks thread over in the Fun and Games section inspired me to start one over here. I figured we’d use the same format; 1 line per post.

    See spoiler for Limerick guidelines.
    Spoiler:
Borrowed from the Stargate Limericks thread:

    1. A limerick is composed of five lines.

    2. A limerick has a specific meter such as, “’Twas the NIGHT be-fore CHRIST-mas and ALL through the HOUSE.” Here is an example of the most common meter:
da da DUM da da DUM da da DUM
da da DUM da da DUM da da DUM
da da DUM da da DUM
da da DUM da da DUM
da da DUM da da DUM da da DUM

    3. A limerick rhymes in the following pattern:
    Line 1 = rhyme A
    Line 2 = rhyme A
    Line 3 = rhyme B
    Line 4 = rhyme B
    Line 5 = rhyme A

    4. The classic standard for the first line of a limerick is to use it to identify a character

    5. A good limerick is clever with a comic, ironic, or unforeseen ending

    6. If a limerick does not flow easily when read out loud, something is probably wrong.

    Example limerick:
There once was captain named Malcolm,
Who thought the Alliance was pond scum.
    He fought as a Browncoat,
Now he has his own boat,
Keep flying is his rule of thumb.

And now to start it off.....
There once was a man they called Jayne

    #2
There once was a Browncoat they called Jayne,
Whom many had known as a real pain.
Fair, or not, he would kill,
    With despicable skill.
And now even his name is profane.

      It is regrettable to see,
That none enjoy limericks as much as me.
Fun we can have with Firefly.
      It's something none can deny.
So be a pal and you will see,
Just how much fun Firefly limericks can be.

We all know there are some,
Who'd like to have such fun.
        So write a limerick
        and you will see,
How much fun writing limericks are for you and me.
