When will we learn more about the Observers on Fringe? — Cal
MICKEY: On Thursday's episode, we'll meet August, who is just as bald and hairless as last season's Observer (who is rumored to be named September, by the way). It seems that August is doing more than observing, and his meddling could threaten a woman's life... or death. We'll also learn that Observers have been present for many calamitous historical events, and that they're gearing up for the next one, which, sadly, includes Olivia & Co.

Question: I miss Olivia’s sister and niece on Fringe. Will they be back this year? They showed Olivia’s softer side, something this season is lacking. —Sebastian
Ausiello: The niece is back in this week’s fantastic Observer-themed eppy (the first three minutes of which you can watch here), but Olivia’s sis is MIA. Ari Graynor’s busy movie career keeps getting in the way of a return engagement, but producers aren’t giving up. If the scheduling can be worked out, we will probably see Rachel by season’s end.

Amanda in Menlo Park, N.J.: Last week's episode of Fringe with the Observers was sooo good. What else is going on with that show?
According to Fringe exec producer Jeff Pinkner, here's what you can look forward to in upcoming episodes: "We deal with an outbreak-type condition...[There's] an episode that's really big and fun and crazy about how what it is that we think we're seeing isn't necessarily the truth. And in a couple of episodes, we drop a bombshell for our characters and one of the big dormant secrets, one of the bombs of the table, as it were, goes off. Perhaps it will be blow apart our team, and certainly it will change the nature of their relationship. We delve a little bit more directly with the alternate universe and what's going on over there and how it may affect our world. We also have a really cool episode coming up that deals with Walter's (John Noble) memory and William Bell (Leonard Nimoy) specifically."

Sounds like good things are on the horizon for this show. I can't wait to continue watching this season unfold.

Anna S.: In all the recent press releases for Fringe, including ones released following his character's demise, Kirk Acevedo is listed as one of the stars. Does this mean that we can expect to see him again?
I'm told this is a "formatting issue" that the network has tried to correct but which keeps slipping through. Translation: Kirk's gone from Fringe and not coming back, and anything you see to the contrary is a typo.

I still miss him. Knowing he is gone for good makes me sad.

Fringe - Episode 2.10 - Grey Matters - Press Release

DR. WALTER BISHOP’S BRAININESS TAKES ON NEW MEANING AND WILLIAM BELL RETURNS ON AN ALL-NEW “FRINGE” THURSDAY, DECEMBER 10, ON FOX

A Fringe investigation is triggered when a patient at a mental institution undergoes an impromptu brain surgery that unexpectedly leaves his brain exposed. Despite the unthinkable circumstances, the patient’s condition and sanity miraculously improves before the Fringe team arrives. While Agent Dunham and Peter scan surveillance tapes (and Walter enjoys his pudding), Olivia recognizes a familiar face as Thomas Jerome Newton (guest star Sebastian Roche), the leader of the “shape-shifters.” As similar cases stack up, the Fringe team heads back to the lab to determine exactly how patients are being cured. Walter’s brains are put to the test and William Bell (guest star Leonard Nimoy) resurfaces in the all-new “Grey Matters” episode of FRINGE airing Thursday, Dec. 10 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.
