I'm really surprised that "Descent I" has made it this far over so many better episodes. I'm quite shocked that anyone would vote for it over "Tapestry"

Tapestry was a good 'here is your life, charlie scrooge', but the Academy bits really didn't work for me. The scenes with the 'future' Picard in the science uniform and only a Lt., those are what really touched me. Of course, any scene with Q in it is pure gold. The whole episode just depresses me a bit.
Descent pt 1 had Data not exploring but questioning his humanity more and being violent and as sad as I've ever seen him while emotionless
, transwarp conduits, firefights, a big honking new Borg [minelayer] ship, technobabble, Lore, the Borg, Beverly in command... 
To be honesty, my favourites of the season were The Chase and Timescape. Nice mixes of humanity and sci-fi.Comment
