I've been thinking about my team, and I came up with a better one.
    So, team B:

    Jack
    Maybourne
    Makepeace
    Reynolds

    Kinda scary.

The SG teams are supposed to be Recon teams. Hence, quick moving and able to handle most situations. That’s why there’s a scientist with them as well as a cultural expert.

The original SG-1 was good, a healthy mix of 4 different styles, My formulations would be something like this (I’ve actually been thinking about this as I’m writing a fic that reforms a few teams)

If I had pure choice of any team members, this would be my base’s teams.

Main Recon Team (Exploration and First Contact with Cultures) would be

1: Lorne – Team Leader & Pilot (Atlantis Lorne, not the hot head from that SG1 episode)
        2: Daniel – Cultural Specialist
3: McKay – Scientist and panic attack specialist
4: Ford – Heavy Support (Just in case they come under fire)

Lorne doesn’t have the combat experience of Jack or John, but he’s a good leader in his own right. Daniel isn’t a soldier or a warrior and is more about peaceful contact. McKay doesn’t like getting shot at so he’s buddy buddy with Ford who’s the one with the M249. This is the team that does exploring, and isn’t specifically for combat oriented missions.

Stealth Recon & Sabotage Team – (For more dangerous missions that require specific skills)

1: Carter – Team Leader and Scientist
2: Sheppard – Pilot and General Smarta**
3: Teyla – Cultural Specialist & Close Quarters Combat
4: Ronon – Heavy Support & Heavy Support

This is the team that does the infiltration, the blowing up of enemy ships, the stealing of important information… blah blah. Each has weapons training, has experience in stealth and special tactics. Carter’s the leader because of a decade of experience. Sheppard goes with her as she’s one of the few people whose orders he’s willing to follow. Teyla as cultural specialist and stealthy melee fighter, Ronon can keep quiet if he needs to, but you know he wants to carry a big gun

You might think this is just replacing McKay with Carter, but with Carter in charge, it changes the whole dynamic. If you’d like you could change Teyla with Alicia Vega *They shouldn’t have killed her off * to give it a different feel, From the bit we DID see of Vega, she was an excellent sharpshooter.

Heavy Support Team – Called in for heavy combat and defensive missions

1: O’Neill – Team Leader and Pilot (He’s got years of experience, Special Forces training, blah blah he’s a total soldier)
        2: Teal’c – Walking Armory (Teal’c with a pair of P90’s? Awesome)
3: Reynolds – More Support (Yet another heavy weapons specialist)
4: Kawalsky or Red Shirt – Yet even more support (Remember, this is a HEAVY Support Team)

You’d think this is insulting to Jack, but come on. He’s a military man and likes to take action, He’s constantly arguing with Carter and Daniel over the details of such and such doohickey and monumental tablet that may or may not have the ancient equivalent of the meaning of life… or it could easily have their recipe for ricearoni… leading a Heavy Support Team is right up his alley! Teal’c just LOVES shooting and pummeling things, Reynolds is a Marine and from what I saw on the show he’s already support, and Kawalsky is there for nostalgia the 4th member could be any of the nameless marines *or named ones* we’ve seen over the years.

I’d make a few other teams, but i think this gives the gist of what I’m thinking.
