Could a supergate use the solar flare/time travel trick and send a ship back in time?

Really all they would have to do is drop subspace satellites around all the stars in our galaxy the in the direction of the Ori galaxy and wait for the right flare. The right flare would sling them back to the milkyway and half a second after they emerged from the gate they would phase into the past.

Remember the time travel in 1969 was different than all of the times we have seen it since. The sgc changed to the silo of the past AFTER they had passed through it.

There is no supergate in the past, so its a one way trip, but since the odyssey has a zpm its easy enough to find a location that they know is out of the way, and climb into a hibernation pod. Hell if u wanna get creative use the merlin phase technology to make the ship intangible, freeze everyone and then wake up hunky dory in a thousand yrs.

the only real reason i could see for time travelling through the supergate would be to go back before the Ori invasion, and then use the APBWs to destroy them as soon as they come through. We could also hide behind the 'gate and shoot the backs of their ships, they'd have to turn around to get us with their beams. [:

The first 1969 trip was presumably a very rare event that is not reproducible. In all other flare-based time travel events you end up at the same gate not the same location. As a result you could use the supergate to travel to the supergate at the very moment it was completed. This is of course assuming that the 'physics' of a supergate is the same as a regular gate.

And Baal came out at a gate on that planet not at the facility that hadn't been built in the 1930s. Baal built it after learning about the events of 1969.

Because the effect is the result of a wormholes trajectory intersecting a solar flare. The fact that the mechanics of the gates may be different is irrelevant as their resulting wormholes will be the same.

Continuum was different from 1969 as in Continuum they went TO earth, whereas in 1969 they went FROM earth.

i can think of another reason, how about to save the asgard. we go back before they give themselves that disease and then they'll have more time to solve their problem.

Only prob is, none of them no about the solar flares stargate time travel device. Maybe Cameron, but unless TPTB says what happened to him, we can't say.

I'm sure some hidden Government agency knows about Ba'al and Cameron, but they've remained anonymous, or maybe Cam and his grand pa started their own secret society, what ever the reason, the present is still the present so no solar flare time travel just yet.


Rodney and Carter could figure out the mechanics of time travel, maybe Rodney no knows the reason why his other self failed in constructing a multiverse drive, and has discovered a solution, in that way, they could go into an alternate world, find any known time machines, (submerged atlantis, the modified puddle jumper in the milky way) and make their own.


Rodney could copy his mind place it in a replicator body, and send it into alternate worlds, and wait for it to return with several nuggets of time travel and other such things.
