Yesterday I watched Star Trek: Picard ep1 for the second time. Have to say, I'm impressed with it overall, and in particular that it's giving some focus to the concept of refugees - I think "the great bird of the galaxy" would approve.
...and also popped on Star Trek Wrath of Khan as an example for my kids of "the best of TOS". Didn't hold their attention terribly well.
I've tried to show my now 12yo Trek a number of times over the past few years, but finally managed to break through via QWho / the Borg. He is a big Cyberman fan, and so it was an obvious leap really, instead of my previous attempts with Encounter at Farpoint, the TOS cartoon, and the Khan TOS episode.
He has now watched every Star Trek Borg story - in continuity order - except pt 2 of Voyager's finale. More importantly though - he's accepted my advice on a number of occasions to watch some other episodes before watching particular Borg stories so that he would better understand what was happening, including some Barclay etc.
Now I've got a long list for him to sit through before showing him Picard - which from the trailers, have piqued his interest.
