since we have never seen the full extent of either ones power, it's impossible to tell. i'd go with the Q, since they're cooler ^^

we have seen the Q remove entire species from history with just snaps of there fingers because they deemed it necesary (startrek books never in series)

That's kind of unfair considering that the we have never seen the 'true' power of the Ascended Ancients. They were prevented to do so by their 'golden rule.' Personally, you we can't say because we haven't seen the full power of the Ancients.

I think that the Q would win

Due to them being in pretty much control of the whole universe whereas the ancients only seem to control things now and dont have as much power. However, as Orion Coran pointed out we havent seen the true power of the ancients.

Both are ongoing franchises, so there's really no way of saying we'll EVER see the full extent of either side.

Keeping it down to what we've seen, it's gotta be the Q Continuum. Ancients are limited by time. The Q are not.

The Q would own the Ascended collective, they've shown so much more power. They can snap their fingers and do almost anything. There is no contest.

The Q are Omnipotent and Omniscient, they're as close to GODS as any Sci-fi series is comfortable portraying.

The ascended ancients, while admittedly INCREDIBLY powerful (Even factoring the Ori) would only be able to put up a token fight.

Even if bu some strange measure they posed a threat to ONE Q, the Continuum would step up and end the battle before it began in the easiset way possible, by removing the ancients ability to ascend in the first place.
