    INTERVIEW: Joss Whedon – DOLLHOUSE
Joss Whedon is an icon among geeks. To some, he is the man who can do no wrong. "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" is landmark in television history and "Firefly" is one of the most tragically short-lived series ever. The airwaves have been Whedon-less since the cancellation of "Angel" in 2004 but now he returns with "Dollhouse". It's a fascinating concept and the following interview will probably give you as much insight into the show as possible with very minor spoilers.

      Joss Whedon wins Bradbury Award

Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Dollhouse creator Joss Whedon has been named recipient of the Bradbury Award for excellence in screenwriting.

The honour is bestowed by the Science Fiction Writers of America at the same ceremony as the Nebula Awards. First given by Ben Bova in 1992, the Bradbury Award is named in acknowledgement of Ray Bradbury's contributions to the fields of science fiction and screenwriting.

Previous recipients are James Cameron for Terminator 2, J. Michael Straczynski for Babylon 5, and Yuri Rasovsky and Harlan Ellison for 2000X – Tales of the Next Millennia.

“Like everyone who picks up a pen, I was a rabid Bradbury fan and as greatly influenced by him as any other writer I read. To receive the award named for him is an honor I'd not dreamed of,” Whedon told Locus Magazine.

“In my defense,” he continued, “it didn't exist back then. What did exist were the very lovely, very twisted and very human stories that warped my impressionable mind, and that I have tried, in whatever medium they will let me, to measure up to.”

Dollhouse Star to Produce Mapplethorpe Biopic
        Feb 26, 2009, 08:26 AM | by Jeff Labrecque

        Categories: Movie biz

Eliza Dushku, star of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Fox's new Dollhouse, will produce a film based on the life of 1970s photographer Robert Mapplethorpe, whose daring and controversial celebrity portraits made him famous, before dying at age 42 from complications related to AIDS.

Variety reports that Dushku has recruited indie documentarian Ondi Timoner (DiG!) to direct the film, which is currently titled The Perfect Moment, but did not mention who might star as the acclaimed shutterbug. Dushku told E! last month at Sundance that she imagined her older brother Nate in the lead role. "Nate physically has an uncanny resemblance to Robert," Dushku said. "Some pictures are really eerie."

Joss Whedon: What it will take for Dollhouse to survive

Joss Whedon, creator of Fox's sci-fi series Dollhouse, told reporters that there is still a chance that Fox will pick the show up for a second season, provided the remaining four episodes do well—especially with a new lead-in, Prison Break, which replaces Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles in the timeslot before, starting April 24.

The mysterious Alpha reveals Dollhouse finale secrets

Echo (Eliza Dushku) risks her life in the season-finale episode "Omega" airing Friday.
In last week's penultimate episode of Fox's sci-fi series Dollhouse, the face of the mysterious and murderous Alpha was revealed, and SCI FI Wire spoke with the well-known Joss Whedon actor who played him about what's coming up in this Friday's season-one (and possibly series) finale. (Spoilers ahead if you don't know who Alpha is!)

Alan Tudyk, who starred in Whedon's Firefly and Serenity, was revealed to be Alpha. He told a group of reports on Monday that the season finale features Alpha and Echo (Eliza Dushku) on a crime spree, a la Mickey and Mallory from Natural Born Killers. Last Friday's episode, "Briar Rose," ended with Alpha taking Echo out of the Dollhouse, with their personalities connecting romantically.

"We take it on the road," Tudyk said in a conference call. "There may be a kidnapping or two in the episode, but for Alpha it's about fulfilling his plan, which is just the last step. Getting Echo was the second-to-the-last step of his ultimate plan. He's got one more thing in place before they can really go on their worldwide-domination killing spree, ruling-the-world spree. It's about making her in his own image, really, as far as he's a god. In his mind, he's a god, and he wants to bring her up to his level of multiple personalities."

The following Q&A features edited excerpts of the conference call with Tudyk. The season finale of Dollhouse airs Fridayat 9 p.m. ET/PT on Fox. (There are season-ending spoilers ahead as well!)

                            Olivia Williams ('Dollhouse')

Joss Whedon has become somewhat of a talking point thanks to an array of popular shows including Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Angel. The writer-producer has made a return to the small screen in the US with the much-talked about sci fi drama Dollhouse, which lands on UK screens next week. It has a cast including Eliza Dushku and ex-Neighbours star Dichen Lachman and a story which promises to be "a head-f**k", and it's gathered a lot of buzz online. Eager for more info, we caught up with Dollhouse's top dog Olivia Williams - a.k.a. Adelle - to get the lowdown.

Eliza Dushku Dishes on Dollhouse Renewal: "Now We Get to Really Have Some Fun!"

In trumpeting Dollhouse's Season 2 pick-up, Fox entertainment president Kevin Reilly called the decision "a bet on creativity" and "a bet on Joss" — as in series creator Joss Whedon. Immediately following Fox's upfronts presentation, TVGuide.com grabbed a few minutes with Dollhouse lead Eliza Dushku to celebrate the renewal as well as the show's fans.
