I was the same. I went into SGU expecting it to be crap. I only actually watched in initially cause Jack and Sam were in the first ep But I was wrong about it, I found myself enjoying Air parts 1 - 3. I wasn't so keen on Darkness though, thought it was a little too slow. But I did enjoy it a little more when watching it on my TV instead on computer monitor 
After seing Young I took an almost instant liking to him. I didn't think he was hot, but after seeing him in a few eps now I'm liking him even more. You don't have to have bulging biceps to be good looking I actually prefer a good personality over six packs, although six packs don't hurt either
