    Season 1:
Ep 1, Chevron One: A young scientist stumbles onto the truth about wormholes and endeavors to create one, his ideas are influenced by writings in a cave, that depict two devices that can link 2 worlds.
Arc Notes: The writings and drawings in the cave are descriptions of a bridge between two worlds with depictions of what we now know as a Stargate.

Ep 2, Vacuum Energy: While pursuing in his research to develop a device to open a wormhole, the scientist mistakenly creates a small self contained rift in subspace in his lab, the scientist later discovers that he has nearly unlimited energy coming from the rift and beings attempts to adapt and use this energy.
Arc Notes: The Rift is an early form of what we now know as a Z.P.M.

Ep 3, Causality: After Years of study the scientist discovers a small ship buried in the outskirts of the village near the cave where he found the drawings, and determines that it is from the distant future. The scientist also recognizes the language as his people’s own language, but more advanced, and begins to have haunting dreams about a large city and a massive war.
Arc Notes: The Small Ship is what we now know as a Puddle jumper, the large city is Atlantis, and the war is a Civil war involving 2 sides of his race.

Ep 4, Visions: The elderly scientist begins to have violent episodes and visions of what he believes is his peoples future and their annihilation, in fear that his research may be used to destroy his people, he moves his lab underground powered by the self contained rift in space, and protects it by making the entrance known to only himself and 5 other individuals. The Small Ship that he found mysteriously disappears, but evidence shows it was moved and not flown away.
Arc Notes: The Visions are events yet to happen, involving a large scale assault on a group of people by another group or race [what we now know as the Priors/Ori]

Ep 5, Memories: The Elderly Scientist and his trusted friends look for a way to store his memories for use in the future, they try to develop a technological vessel for his consciousness, he later dies and his memories are preserved inside proto type data core.
Arc Notes: The Device Used to store the memories is a early form of what we now know as a “Ancient Repository of Knowledge”

Ep 6, New Generation: After the lead scientist passed away. The group of colleagues decides to start an underground group to help them and aid them in research and development of new technologies, they also formed their own Alternate underground government and built more facilities for research and offered homes for people that helped in their research. The Five Scientists appoint themselves leaders of the group or Counsel.
Arc Notes: The group established is what we now know as the “Alterans”

Ep 7, Security Measures: After many Years, the now well established underground group of scientists finds themselves being spied on by their parent government, in fear that their research my be stolen and used against them, they devise a security measure to keep anyone outside of their government from using their technology.
Arc Notes: The Security Precaution is what we now know as the “Ancient Gene”, Parent Government is what we now know as the Ori.

Ep 8, Frightening Discoveries: A underground Alteran spy discovers that their parent government is devoting a lot of time into finding a way to gain access to their hidden research facilities, and they also find out that there is top secret research and experimentation going on into the evolution of their race. The Spy was Killed Before he can deliver the news by a mysterious dark being, who claimed to know what the Alterans where researching.

Ep 9, Breakthroughs: The underground scientific group has a breakthrough in research of their technology that allows them to transport themselves and other equipment to predetermined locations, and helps secure their followers. The device also helps them move their facilities to more secure locations.
Arc Notes: The Break through Device is what we now know as “Transporter in Atlantis”

Ep 10, Power Of the Mind: The Group Of Scientist discover that they can research and develop faster if they find a way to link their technology and instruments directly to their mind. Meanwhile the parent government starts an investigation into several missing artifacts and people.
Arc Notes: The Device that would link their mind to the technology is what we now know as the “Ancient Control Chair”

Ep 11, Sister Planet: The Alterans Design and Build a new Satellite Array that allows them to see other solar systems, after construction is finished, they are surprised to find that their planet has a twin, another planet on the same orbit as theirs, on the opposite side of the solar system.

Ep 12, The Future’s Probe: The Alterans develop and launch a probe containing a prototype of a super conducting device, powered by newly created subspace rift. They estimate it would take the probe several decades to reach its destination planet. The last of the original six scientists have aged considerably over the last few decades and decide to download their knowledge to their data storage device and retire.
Arc Notes: Again the Device is a step leading to what we know now as the “Repository of knowledge”, and the subspace rift is a early Z.P.M.

Ep 13, Missing In Action: The Alteran underground begins to notice several members have gone missing in action and reports surface of a being with abnormal powers spying on the Facilities, and some how knows how to use the technology. The Alterans Somehow Stumble upon a very small nearby vacant facility of unknown origin, and with technology they’ve never seen before. But the description matches that of the ship in their founding fathers memories. Not knowing its exact location they are unable to find it again during search missions.
Arc Notes: Being with abnormal powers to be unveiled later. The Facility as well..

Ep 14, Dark Shadows: Several Leading Members of the Alteran science team start to have disturbing visions about a civil war between their group and the government, and they all have noticed the same thing is evident in all their visions, a Dark Being in black robes. The same being several scientists reported years ago. The Same Being said to be Spying on them.
Arc Notes: Being To Be Unveiled Later

Ep 15, Growing Pains: As the Alteran Underground grows, several members have conflicting ideas about the path the group is going down, believing that science will eventually get them all killed, and that it will separate their people. These several members resign and disappear, taking all their belongings with them.

Ep 16, Society Evolution: After Several Decades, the Alterans and the Parent government have evolved technology wise, at the time the Alterans have become a well known name and is no longer a large underground, but a massive group of people. Though part of the society, the upper structure of the Alterans struggle keep closely guarded secrets about the Futures Probe and the plans to open a worm-hole to the sister planet a secret, the Parent Government is secretly aware of what they were researching, but does not tip their hand. The Society of their Nations Begin to split ways, one going the way of science, while another going the way of religion.

Ep 17, Integration: The Parent government begins widespread use of the Alterans technologies, including the transporters, and control chairs. But the Alterans believe they are using them to attempt to create some form of weapon or weapons of mass destruction.
Arc Notes: Weapons to Be Unveiled at a later date.

Ep 18, In Theory Part I: Alteran Scientists work on creating a small wormhole inside their facility to accurately determine what will happen when the wormhole between their planet and their sister planet is opened. They are Successful, but they find out there are some complications, they find out that the worm hole can only transmit a matter stream in one direction. Meaning they would have to build a worm hole initialization device that can be sent to the sister planet to enable travel to and from the sister planet.

Ep 19, In Theory Part II: After discovering that the matter stream of the wormhole will be one way from the departure point, the scientist work on a way to be able to open a stable wormhole from either end. Several new members join the Alteran’s scientists group.

Ep 20, Event Horizon Part I: After Hundreds Of years. The probe lands on the sister planet and sends a beacon back to the Alteran counsel. The counsel reveals to the Government and people that they have a device on the sister planet that will allow them to open a worm hole and enable travel to and from the planet, the government surprisingly isn’t surprised. There is a Large Group of people rioting outside the Alteran Facility, claiming that the device will bring about an apocalypse, After hundreds of years, the super conductive device is powered up in the Alteran counsel chambers, after a few minutes of tremors and electrical surges; the wormhole opens with an explosive jolt! – Cliffhanger, To Be Continued…………..

wasn't the stargate created shortly after the alterans left the ori galaxy, and atlantis built many years after. the alteran flashbacks in AoT tell us that much.

The last thing Stargate needs to do is fall into the trap of making Prequeals... the show needs to move forwards not back, also it desperatly needs to move on from the Ancients.
A word of advice... there are creatures that live between this dimension and the next, fiendish creatures that feast on the suffering of an entire world to satiate their eternal hunger. Support the Gateworld Cantina or suffer the fate of all who fall into the clutches of the 'Eladrith Ynneas'

Whether Atlantis was built before or after arriving in MW was debated in previous threads. Then Ark of Truth was released and we saw the Alterans fleeing the Ori in a space ship. It was then assumed that Atlantis must have been built after arriving MW. It was probably built between 35 and 50 million years ago prior to the glaciation of the Antarctic continent. (Supported in "Lost City").

But we can't rule out completely that it might have been built prior to MW.

A further speculation of my own is that the Antarctic gate may have been the original gate in the Atlantis gateroom duing its time in MW.

interesting overall idea to cover early history of Ori and Alterrans

I find it strange tho that Anubis would want to aid the Ori like this.

RIP Sep 2010 to beloved gateworld.net member and forum contributor Weedle, very skilled soldier with military special operations, a wonderful human being, and a friend to so many on gateworld. May we keep his memory close.

I was going to type up a reply, but this thread is over two years old. Did you notice that? Anyway, it would never have happened. Brad Wright had no interest in producing a prequel. Further, it's nice to plan ahead, but what happens if the show is cancelled after just two or three years? Focus less on trying to create the ultimate serial, focus more on simply telling entertaining stories.
