It was kind of answering the audiences questions but IMO it was far to obvious that this was the point

Seems like Lost is veering away from the mystery element. Which is a shame.
Series one took about 20+ episodes to explain a simple hatch but now when the island dissapears, Faraday says after 20mins "yah we are time travelling", didnt seem much build up to the reveal
