How come online trailers like this, and the webisodes, are generally US-only?

Because the company offering the video is US based (HULU, which is owned by NBCUMV, which of course owns SciFi Channel).

Fans from the US have the same problems with trying to watch videos posted on the BBC web site, on some Canadian web sites (Space Channel, Movie Network) -- the sites are geo-coded.
