Thanks Morjana, that's really interesting, and very detailed..

Looking through the list I can see why I had thought the number of Earth-based eps per series rose over the years.

Solitudes *felt* like a non Earth-based ep. Watching it for the first time I believed they were offworld, and the attentions of the SGC folk were focussed offworld. Serpent's Lair & Grasp and Nemesis also felt like offworld stories, with them being set on a spaceship. And Foothold and Fair Game had so many aliens and SF in them that I didn't have time to notice that we never got any new planets. 2010 was Earth-based, but it was as much a Strange New World as a lot of the alien planets.

There's nothing in your list that I'd actually disagree with except that I'd swap Redemption 1&2 which seemed mostly to happen on Earth with Descent - same reason as SL/G - and Changeling, which mostly happened in Teal'c's Head while Teal'c was offworld, and the Earth in his fantasies wasn't real. And I had thought Avenger was mostly Earthbound.

You have entirely to much time on your hands.

        But thanks anyways.

          Wow!
Thanks for all the research. I know how many tedious, grueling hours it took forcing yourself to watch RDA in those episode to gather this research data.

Thanks. It really is useful to have this type of info available for us fans.
What would be do without you, Morjana?

Thanks for another great list! It's interesting to look at the balance of episodes and see that it has been fairly consistent over the past seven seasons.

            Season 8 spoilers below

            S
            P
            O
            I
            L
            E
            R
            S
            P
            A
            C
            E

We have spoilers for ten season eight episodes so far. While spoilers can be misleading, it looks like Lockdown and Avatar are both set on the base itself. Covenant seems to be heavily earth based with a short trip to the Alpha site. Affinity looks entirely earth based. Endgame is hard to tell, but it sounds like one of those earth-based conspiracy bits with the possibility of an off world component. That's half of the known episodes and as many earth based episodes as we get in most non-abbreviated seasons. Not exactly a typical percentage and we haven't even gotten to the inevitable cost saving clip episode. It doesn't mean the season will be weak. Some earth based episodes have been great, but it is a little worrisome that there is such a difference from previous seasons.

I love Earth-based episodes most of the time. This is great. Thanks for the information!

                    Wow...nice Morjana.

It's interesting that they have kept a constant number of offworld/earth-based eps throughout the years.

I wonder if there is a deliberate policy at work here, or if it's accidental, it certainly looks too regular to be coincidence.

Thanks Majorna, but dont you think that 115 planets is not enough compared to how many gate combinations there are. I know there have only been seven, in the middle of the eigth season but there is enough planets left to keep the show alive for at least two more seasons.
