    James Bond General Discussion/Appreciation

    hello.
Our mission is to talk about James Bond...in all of his glories...and flaws.
Fom Connery to Brosnan to Craig.
    From the PPK-to the P99.
    From Money to Pennies.
    From M to Q to....R?
From the DB5 to the V12 vanquish.
    And everything in between.
What is your favorites of all these things...or just general disussion on everything.
It is up to you, and me...so let us discuss.

I loved Sean Connery. I'm definitely a classic girl.

Pierce Brosnan was far too sleazy, his only good film was Goldeneye and that's probably more about the director than his acting.

                Connery, Craig, Dalton. FTW!

I expected better of Morbo tbh but the lack of Dalton love irritates me.
                    ...
People love Daniel Craig because he portrays a darker bond, the exact thing Dalton did 15 years before. License To Kill is easily in the top 5 bond films purely because it was badass.

Was the other guy too bad to even be listed? I have seen the GL Bond movie though. I don't remember enough about it to rank him either. lol.

lol! I don't know. I liked Brosnan well enough and Goldeneye is one of my top Bond films, but I didn't like the rest of his and was thankful for the reboot of the series. They were getting too OTT and cheesy.

That's why I like License to Kill.

Though I'd rank Craig as my favorite Bond then Connery then Dalton and Brosnan. Moore and GL can fight it out for the bottom. Heresy I know but then I've never been that big a Bond fan. Course I thought Craig would stink as Bond when he was announced but luckily I was wrong.
                      IMO always implied.

I'm well aware of what Dalton did. He had the good look, I just though Brosnan had a better look. Truth be told Brosnan was only really handed 1 good script and that was Goldeneye (one of my favorite of all). Tomorrow Never Dies was pathetically terrible. World is Not Enough was enjoyable. And I enjoyed Die Another Day as well. But no they don't compare.

License to Kill was pretty, well, an 80's movie. It's true that Dalton's Bond went on revenge for Leiter's murder. But it was kind of lost in crazy 80s cheese.

Although I do disagree with License to Kill, it is not really in the top five of my personal list. But I really liked Dalton too....I just like others more.

I hate him, and his movie. Only Bond I dislike, one of like two Bond movies I dislike.
And GOldeneye was my favorite of the movies too...I happened to really like the Pierce era of movies, all of them I really like, least favorite being DAD, but saying that. I can agree that it was getting awfully 'out there' and I was glad the way they have pulled off the reboot too.

As a random aside, my brother told me a story that when he was going to see QoS recently, the taxi driver went on a massive rant about how he couldn't watch Bond anymore because "slimey" Brosnan ruined it for him lol.

But yeah, Goldeneye is definitely in the top 5. Sean Bean was ridiculously awesome as 006. In fact, all the casting in that film was brilliant...

I agree (especially about Tomorrow Never Dies... The idea of an Alistair Darling lookalike taking over the world using media rights and a stealth boat was laughable at best) apart from Die Another Day. The latter Brosnan films were just full of gimmicks. Diamonds on a guy's face, ice palace, guy with bullet in his brain etc. They were just a collection of really cool set-pieces and ideas rather than contributing to a good film on the whole. imo.

But yeah, maybe Dalton's films were lost in typical 80's action moments (the truck driving on it's side?) but I still prefer them for at least trying a more realistic, emotional and darker Bond. I need to watch it again though, haven't seen it in a few years.

Have any of you guys read the Ian Fleming Bond books? They're fantastic and vastly superior to the movies.
